In Honor of National Vodka and Poetry Day

Today is National Poetry Day!

and National Vodka day as well....

Now there's an excellent combination.

In honor of National Vodka Day and National Poetry Day - it goes like this,
After one, people often think they can do the other!

I closed my eyes, waiting to wish upon the night's first star.

While he opened, the Van Gogh Vodka....
Alone in the darkness, not even one shining, rhinestone star

So he opened the Chopin Vodka....

As the night sky glared darkly,
I wished for one sharp, pointed star
to appear.

He wished for more vodka.....

What arrived
was a bright circle of shimmering light
that haloed the moon.

and a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka.....

While under this dark dense canopy of sky
an unbelievable full moon

shimmered ever so brightly
as if begging the stars
to shine tonight.

while he opened the last bottle of Van Gogh Vodka....

Just so I may wish upon the night's first star.
while he exclaimed dryly,

"Look two full moons!"

I have to agree with Cloudia! The reluctant muse can sometimes be summoned after imbibing one's favourite 'tipple'. Look at the great poets who followed that maxim - mind you, they tended to die young :)

So, so good, Karen.
What a superb way to celebrate both events!
The end with the "happy" man full of vodka watching two full moons is so funny, hehehe.
Thanks for sharing, hip, hip, hip!

The combination can only be efficient if you are Russian.

I'm not a very good poet, but thanks to you. I am now willing to learn.

Can you warn me in advance when National Whiskey Day and National Beer Day arrives? I don't want to be unprepared like I was for vodka day.
