No Not Chickens on the Menu

I'm always eager for those moments of unexpected joy on a daily basis and one way to accomplish that this last Tuesday was a visit to some fellow chickens not far away. There's no time to waste soaking up all the sunshine we can and afternoon breezes as we all know what arrives here in the future of Minnesota.

Sorry precious chickens everywhere the sign reads "Chicken Dinners" in Frankenmuth, Michigan, and you're just in time for

SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

I'm also posting to City Daily Photo.

Yikes, run for your life fellow chickens, unless you want to be served on dinner plates.

This is me running fast!

Help, I'm all fenced in.

"To make mistakes is human; to stumble is commonplace; to be able to laugh at yourself is maturity."

Willam Arthur Ward

Some chickens don't really care what they're serving for dinner.

Happiness is an inside job.
William Arthur Ward

Why do they say owls are wise?

Because of their mysterious and all seeking nature they say.
Honestly, it's also their heightened senses and association with the night, and of course their night vision, in particular, which impressed the Ancient Greeks.

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."

William Arthur Ward

With chickens flooding the limelight I thought maybe an owl and one of my daughter's cats taking an afternoon snooze should round off this critter post today.

Lou-Lou being lazy, as her life is so good, especially when the wild and crazy big white dog is outside playing.

and that's a wrap for today's Saturday Critters. Thanks for stopping in and gifting me with your thoughts and comments, they always make my day.
and another thought-

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery each day."

Oh Happy Wandering in Hastings

Posting to City Daily Photo with my Hastings, Minnesota wander.

"It is sweet to let the mind unbend on occasion."

(it's also key to survival)

Horace

Well, hello friend, welcome to Hastings Art Center.

Your smile makes the world a little brighter.

Let's meet at the Froth and Cork Coffeehouse!

Each day is rich with gifts, including everything from your morning coffee, or tea to your friends, family, co-workers and animals. Appreciate everything.

Be sure to read the notes written in chalk on the sidewalk outside the coffeehouse.

Furnish your thoughts uniquely.

In case you didn't know I find joy, comfort, silliness, and even gratitude from the Gnomes in my life.
There are lots of different kinds of happiness, which varies between us all, but the comfort we feel in whatever contentment works for us, keep it close at hand.

Delight in the beauty that everywhere surrounds you.
Charles Boner

"May you live every day of your life."
Jonathan Swift quotes

A great place to eat lunch or just listen to the waterfall.

Isn't it amazing how flowers can grow pretty much anywhere?

Having fun is simply holding on to the joy of each day.

Rocks so inspiring and motivational.

The sign reads, take one for inspiration, share one for motivation or leave one to help our garden grow.

Honestly, all ages are welcome for Storytime in the Park.

"A man - (woman, child, etc.) doesn't live by read alone. He (she) needs buttering up once in a while."

Robert H. Henry

Thanks for stopping in and brightening my day.

Take good care of you.

Artistically Speaking Birds To Love

"Without struggle, success has no value." Aaron Lauritsen

and if you can share it with a friend, especially those furry friends, even better.

"Refuse to be average, Let your heart soar as high as it will."

A.W. Tozer

Misty and Dash say it's that time again for Saturday's Critters.

 Welcome to another

 SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

and a jaunt about town and a few photos from our great Minnesota State Fair. I hope you enjoy, especially any conversations you might have with any pigeon, or other bird you might possibly meet along the way. I'm also posting to City Daily Photo.

Of course, all Dragons know how to play chess.

Man, or bird? Or both?

Did you know that books on pigeons are quite popular?

"You wouldn't walk with your underpants stuck in your bottom; you'd adjust them. So don't treat life like ill-fitting wondering underpants, adjust it to be comfortable again."

E.E.D. Horton, From Conversations with a Pigeon

another great pigeon book to check out.

Sweet Artemis, happiest and most quietly content road companion.

"No matter what you do if it isn't genuine, it's not worth doing, if it isn't meant with good heart, it's not worth saying, and if it's a darkness around you perhaps it's not worth remembering."

E.E.D. Horton

"In order to see birds, it is necessary to become a part of the silence."

Robert Lynd

For the love of birds, and cows of course.

One of my favorite critters at the fair!

Egg Coffee and Roasted Corn on the Cob my two top favorites.

yes, in that order too!

"Life is an ear of corn waiting to get stuck in your teeth, unless of course you don't have any teeth, or very few, then it's still darn tasty!"

"The days on which one has been the most inquisitive are among the days on which one has been happiest."

Robert Lynd

"It's in those quiet little towns, at the edge of the world, that you will find the salt of the earth people who make you feel right at home."

Rhythms and Roads

Welcome and happy Tuesday to all! I'm posting to City Daily Photo.

Out and about a bit of this and that making the most of what gorgeous days we have around us.

Stairs and more stairs. Up and down, art at the Minnesota State Fair in the Fine Arts Department.

In the Fine Arts Building too.

Fast cars!

Do what makes you happy.

Live wildly!

Yes. This. Always this.

"Be around those who crave new galaxies in you.

The light through your veins.

Poetic science.

Wider vision.

Gentler strength.

The moon in your chest.

Gravitational pulls.

Possibility everywhere.

Stars in your eyes.

Expanding horizons.

Something wild.

Something fervent.

Something stunning.

Something divine.

Victoria Erickson

"Let's not travel to tick things off lists or collect half-hearted semi-treasure to be placed in dusty drawers in empty rooms. Rather, we'll travel to find grounds and rooftops and tiny hidden parks, where we'll sit and dismiss the passing time, spun in the city's web, 'til we've surrendered, content to be spent and consumed. I need to feel a place while I'm in it."

(She is so spot on!)

Victoria Erickson

So, what's an inexpensive reusable material to us in building a gigantic Moose? Why cardboard of course!

The Story.

"To be fully human is to be wild. Wild is the strange pull and whispering wisdom. It's the gentle nudge and the forceful ache. It is your truth, passed down from the ancients, and the very stream of life in your blood. Wild is the soul where passion and creativity reside, and the quickening of your heart. Wild is what is real, and wild is your home."

Victoria Erickson

"Everyone returns us to a different sense of ourselves, for we become a little of who they think we are."

Alain de Botton

Thanks for sharing your time with me.

Take good care of you.

My SuperPower

City Daily Photo has declared "My SuperPower" as our September theme and accepting this challenge I offer you my passionate SuperPower.  It's all about,

Hunting Gnomes, Elves, and other woodland creatures as my extra-special-SuperPower I do hope you enjoy a bit of what I've uncovered.

The secret is out!

Hanging with my Gnomies all a part of my SuperPower!

Walk softly don't alert the Gnome-Watchman.

Don't anger the Gnomes.

They're quite tricky to catch, but it helps to listen for their giggles.

Some Gnomebody discovered a bag of gold!

Just know

"The age of miracles is here."

Thomas Carlyle

...and Thomas also proclaims,

"A man believes something: not by debating and arguing about many things."

"Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see further." T.C.

Hippie Gnome!

"The tragedy of life is not so much what men suffer, but rather what they miss." T. C.

"When you are convinced that all the exits are blocked,

either you take to believing in miracles or you stand still like the hummingbird.

The miracle is that the honey is always there, right under your nose,

only you were too busy searching elsewhere to realize it.

The worst is not death but being blind,

blind to the fact that everything about life is in the nature of the miraculous." Henry Miller

The Raincatcher Gnome with his own rain gauge!

"All that mankind has done, thought, gained, or been; it is lying as in magic preservation in the pages of books." Thomas Carlyle

The Baker

Please don't make fun of my toes! hehehe

The Dancer

The deep-belly-laughing-prankster.

The music maker.

"One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things."

Henry Miller

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed My SuperPower, but please don't give away their secret locations to anyone!

Take good care of you.
