Flowers, Empty Chairs and Smiles

Those Empty Chairs that surround your table today and every other day you gather with family and friends-
Don't have to be empty.  Fill them up with memories of happy times.

And grow Flowers!

Live from my office garden.

Just opened up!

Tweet, tweet, you sure are sweet!

Loving the winter-ness!

We sure love our sweet little blind puppy Allie!

Growing Up and growing out
comes with growing apart.

Fill those empty spaces with smiles
and replay memories.

"You can't deny laughter; when it comes,
it plops down in your favorite chair
and stays as long as it wants."
Stephen King

Wear a helmet, don't be stupid, jaywalk, but look before you do it
If it snows, go outside, build a jump, get some help,
Get a sled, thrash the hill with your friends, till it melts
GO to Festivals, CAMP, fall in love and dance
Take Risks, cause life moves so fast.
Be Patient.

"Old empty chairs are not empty in reality; memories always sit there."

The Words

"Words are, of course, the most powerful words used by mankind."
Rudyard Kipling

Mr. Rabbit
has a habit
of bringing lots of cheer
those that are near.

Autumn Time brings lots of birthdays to our family.

"I like good strong words that mean something."
Louisa May Alcott

Coloring!

My what images that brings to mind.

AUTUMNESS
here until the first day of

winter- which arrives on December 21st!

So linger on our lovely autumn times-
Bringing-
Back to School- work smarter, play harder.
Trick-Or-Treat, Topiaries and Witch Hats.
Snacky goods and masks galore.
Batik! where one
turns old sheets into luminous stained glass windows.
Tailgates picnics and frozen football moments
and endless Jack-O-Lanterns

Never forget or neglect the
Fairies.
Are the fairest of all.

"The woods, (as precious as words)
are full of fairies, (and meanings)
The sea is full of fish
The trees are full of golden leaves
Let's make an autumn wish."
Anonymous

The Way It Is, Good Fences

Here in Minnesota we all know what's coming.
We'll be exchanging the delicate smells of the beach
and hot sand between our toes for
winter gear and clattering teeth soon enough.

So I'm reveling in the last bits of autumn lingering about.

Imagine that, blossoms abound where we put up our colored lights, so Santa can find his way.

"Now the true value of time;
snatch, seize and enjoy
every moment of it.

Yes, you're witnessing my garden hose, for the last remaining plants.

No idleness no laziness, no procrastination
never put off till tomorrow what you can do today."
Phillip Stanhope

Hello there wee little pumpkin brought to life by wee little munchkins and their colored markers.

Ah yes, we cut down a tree growing where it ought not be growing, sadly but necessary.  So like every good tree lover, we don't just hug our fallen trees, we make things out of them.

Hubby made me a chair!

Misty looking for that darn squirrel that she ran off to the trees!  Where did you go nutty critter?

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by to make my day even brighter.

Human Beings

Inflow of new thoughts will remake you.

"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their attitudes of mind."
William James

Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.
In everything you do.

BE SILLY!

"The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook."
William James

"If there's one thing I've learned, it's that nobody is here forever. You have to live for the moment, each and every day. The here, the now."
Simone Elkeles

Thematic Photographic- Old

Good morning on this grey-rainy-warmish Tuesday to all!

Carmi is feeling, thinking old for our theme this week!

OLD is, a good thing.

Oh yes, some things get better with age.

"Breezy days
deserve the union
of two old friends."
Sanober Khan

On those breezy days many old things fly by.

Good old fashion fun.
Making good use of  everyday moments
brings memories to breeze in again.

So many ways to define old.

What truly matters is how old you feel.

Even when some things pass their intended purpose -
What once was, will be again.

My parents purchased this charming old chap when I was a growing up-

and just last year, I handed him down to my oldest son.
Good old jolly Santa Claus lives on in another new neighborhood.

OLD, can be such a wonderful thing, don't you agree?

Just last weekend I brought this old boy out of the china cabinet-

He's a  vintage Lion Head (Automatic 1 oz Jigger Liquor Whiskey Bottle Pourer Stopper) belonged to my parents before coming to me.

So many childhood memories come flying by just looking at him.

Maybe it's time to hand him down again?

"A thrill of thunder in my hair:
Though blackening clouds be plain,
Still I am stung and startled
By the first drop of the rain:
Romance and pride and passion pass
And these are what remain.

 (good old fashion memories)-I say.

Strange crawling carpets of the grass,
Wide windows of the sky
So in this perilous grace of God."
G.K. Chesterton
part taken from The Collected Poems of G.K. Chesterton

So happy old trails to you all today!

A Fence Smorgasbord

Taking a day to play,
so how about unusual or fictional to other beautiful
or misguided fences for this week?
 A fence for every mood.

Happy face with fence out the window.

Can you spot the good witch broomstick?

Indoor and out the window fencing.

Fictional
For a mind to have a blink of an idea what can happen when
a disaster strikes.

Fence caught by tornado.

Not a peeping Tom, but rather Thomas, fence peeking.

"The wide world is all about you:
you can fence yourself in,
but you cannot forever fence it out."
 J.R.R. Tolkien

Nature awaits.

A myriad of views within this fencing!

Two dogs sniffing.
Squirrels and bunnies scurried away.

Okay some fence up close, but can you spot Dash and Misty in this photo?

Finally a lovely dancer and good fencing.

With ribbons in her hair, we're off to see the library-

the most wonderful library of all!

"Too late to close the stable when the horse is out."
Li Proverb au Vilain
Of course, every prince or princess needs their own wooden horse. of course.

Hello!
A horse is a horse of course, of course heard here.

Okay I'll end with Mister tractable, transporting Gnome
of mine speaking in his clever little gnome voice-
"That's all the fencing we have for today folks!"
