Good Fences # 4 17 April 2014

"Oh give me land, lots of land under starry skies above, don't fence me in." Song by Frankie Laine

GOOD FENCES

How about one of the oldest Minnesota fences near me?

Welcome to the Gideon and Agnes Pond House, further explanation here.

A quick, 2 minute and 5 second youtube video here, featuring the Pond Mission Park in Bloomington, Minnesota where the Gideon house is located since 1856.

Behind their house at the edge of a cliff you'll find this.

For a look into other fences go here, and perhaps bring your own too!

Love a split rail fence! I see you still have snow on the ground.. you do need some flowers! Visiting from Good Fences!

I Love the zig zag fence and it all looks good with the snow.

Beautiful old home and fences. I did watch the video and wish they had included an interior shot or two.

just love those old fences, but i'd hate to have to mow or weed-eat around them! :)

great old fences....seems it would take a lot of time to construct one of these!! they must have served their purpose!!

I grew up near Jockey Hollow NJ and there were fences like that.

Bing Crosby sang the "Don't Fence Me In" song then and I also like the Gene Autry and Roy Rogers versions.

I know it's a fine house, and there are other videos of it. I'll have to find one and include that link too!!

Me too and if only the snow would stay only in photos for a while! :)

You are welcome! I'm happy you're hosting it!

Exactly! I'm betting it was a much larger fence at one time too!

Are you thinking you'd like a snow bank or two Mac?

What an interesting place. Very similar to our Whitman Mission.

Still looks a little chilly up there. Love the split rail fence.

I also absolutely love split-rail fences, but my past attempts at actually splitting the rails proved to be more work than I wanted to handle. Sigh.

I bet that fence wouldn't keep Bambi (the mountain laurel eater!!1!) out, but it might keep a dairy cow in...

the only fence we have is around our veggie garden to keep critters like deer OUT! Cheers!

Split rail fences are my favorites. Love that first shot. It was hard for me to find you. I was sent to your google+ page and it was hard to find a link to your blog. Maybe put the link under 'about' so I can find you. :)

Yep I'm still searching for Bambi!
