Sepia Saturday - 236 - 12 July 2014 Gone Grooming?

All I really want to do, is go to a garden party!

But the rain has ruined that. Again.

Hop in and journey along with me and

It seems we've been invited to a day out for
GROOMING!

Not so sure you can still obtain a shave or haircut here today, but you'll find folks in costume sharing stories about it.

Thank you Alan, for arraigning a day out for us all
at the spa or beauty/barber shop, or Salon as the case may be.

Not so sure about this photo below for good advertising,

She may need a dentist? Vicinity of Huntsville, Texas, beauty shop advertisement.

My kind of Saturday rarely begins at the salon or beauty shop, it has, but what really works for me is to attend

a garden party!

Sadly, as the photo below depicts, some folks just can't enjoy a true garden party moment.  They should have gone to the barber's shop.

July 1941. Information on photo here.

No matter if the garden party is

small, and inside a wee, tiny little house,
or outside in the center of a crowded place

It's always very entertaining.

If you didn't click on Garden Party, listen to it hear.  Guaranteed to please you.

Is that your family's little house on the prairie on the lake, Karen?

That painted sign of the not too attractive woman is a treasure, but I don't think it would have attracted me to have my hair done there!

The lady in the advertisement needs a surgeon not a beautician.

I love those tiny little barber shops. Every time I see a small abandoned building, I always wonder if it had been a barber shop.

We have a barber nearby in Temecula who still does a $6.00 (?) haircut in a single chair. He's probably about 80 and is usually napping when you walk in. The ambience is wonderful. I too think the painting would scare me away from that beauty parlor.

Love the idea of a garden party. Your pictures have put me in the mood for one and today we seem to have the weather for one.

Wonderful meander through terminology and weaving all these photos together...I'm partial to small buildings...whose is the lovely little one by the pond?

Those Nelson boys had a lot to live up to. Thanks for posting that song, together with some interesting photos.
