Thematic Photographic - Bodies of Water

Our theme this week is
Bodies of Water.

Unfortunately, the bodies of water around here are all still frozen.

Lake Marion
is a lovely recreational lake by all means, even in the present frozen state that it still is today.  Well, mostly frozen anyway.  There are folks still stupidly venturing out on this particular lake, and they're selfishly taking their dogs with them.  Big mistake.  Two dogs, that I know of, have recently been rescued from the icy clutches after falling through the ice and one of their owners is still in the hospital.

She had never known that ice could take on so many shades of blue:

Sharp lines of indigo like the deepest seas, aquamarine shadows,

Even the glint of blue-green, where the sun struck just so.
- Malinda Lo

"By March, the worst of the winter would be over.
The snow would thaw
the rivers begin to run

and the world would wake into itself again."

- Neil Gaiman

You capture your water in all its moods so well. It does look so dangerous in that 'half way' state. I look forward to seeing it when its all melted.

Yep, Killroy, and darn old mother nature is taking a few steps back from 70 degrees to 40 something. Boo Hoo how the heck is our ice going melt with like that!

Lovely lake scenes!

P.S. I have pics of Theda (and me holding her leash) on Lake Siri, but it was January...frozen but good!).

I just have no ability to understand why people do this. You put yourself, your dog and the people that might have to rescue you at risk. There are a million places to walk, why walk on the ice.....ice is for skating anyway and only if it is frozen solid and deemed safe. All the lakes in this area are tested and marked!!

...but still ever so beautiful in its own way. I love sitting [or standing if it's too darned cold] in the silence of the morning and listen to the faint cracking of the lake ice far off in the distance.
