Show Me The

Oh- ho-ho! Show! Me! The! Money! A-ha-ha!
Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr.)

Alan's theme is all about money, or anything else you can find in our theme picture.

So let's begin with a major money transaction like, purchasing an automobile.

Can't you guess what this salesman is thinking, "Just give me the money lady."

Used car lot in Clarksdale, Mississippi Delta

How about a few banking institutions?

Let's begin with this old and modest quaint little bank

Little Kanawha Valley Bank Building in Glenville, West Virginia.
Built in 1901
with Classic Revival style details.
and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Just like home sweet bank!

Savings Bank, Falls Village Connecticut

Built in 1959 for City National Bank, the Bank of America Building
became a favorite stop for modern architecture tours in Palm Springs, California.

Another interesting bank built in 1907 is

Citizens National Bank and Trust Building Okmulgee, Oklahoma and was part of the Indian Territory.

Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland Ohio.
Built in 1923 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wells Fargo branch at Market and Grant Streets, originally built as the Union Trust Bank in 1910 in San Francisco, California.

Shall we take a peek at where money is kept?

Open Bank Vault.

Thanks for stopping by and if you haven't had your fill yet, check out the other Sepia Saturday posts as well.

Funny! I was in the vault yesterday getting something from my box. Did you know that I cleaned several banks a night back in the day?

The picture labeled "Savings Bank, Falls Village, Conn." reminded me of the bank we used to bank with before we moved. It was located in an old converted school house and was beautifully decorated inside in a country style.

Some very unique banks, Karen! These are perfect finds.
The vault door is something, isn't it? Wow!
Nice photos of the banks!
If you ever get a chance, check out the old Southwest Branch of the original Southwest Bank at Kingshxghway and Southwest Avenue.
Have a Lovely Day!
Peace :)

I have seen converted banks turned into some very impressive homes.
I loved the 'friendly' little banks you pictured. Thank you.

Some very quaint little buildings you've found there. I guess all banks have their vaults, and they need to have trustworthy employees to avoid being subject to robberies that are 'inside jobs'.

I never would have thought a series of photos about banks could be so entertaining!

I just commented on Joan’s post about bank buildings being imposing and you show me that rather cute little example! A very nice range; I rather like the red brick example.

You've got a lot of great pics in the bank, Karen.

Nice, I appreciate the old bank pictures, very quaint and very different from the banks that we have now.

Happy Sunday Karen ~

I love old banks--they were built with "strength and permanence" in mind

I wonder if that B of A is still in Palm Springs? That era is really back in fashion around there now. Interesting post.

Some of our old banks get recycyled when they become too small for modern needs and now house restaurants, fast food outlets etc. And sometimes the smaller ones are converted into residences. At least that's better then pulling down those lovely solid old buildings.

Very cool!

I liked how each of these banks had a different architectural style, perhaps to earn the trust (and money!) of their respective communities. I use a national internet bank that has no physical building and uses only imaginary money.

Some very cool and unique looking banks!! I've never given banks much thought and do all my backing on line now, even deposits. I just photograph checks and boom, deposit made. I can't even remember the last time I was in a bank!!

Oh love those little banks in the first two pictures. And aren't bank vaults the most mysterious and cool spaces ever?

Funny to think it is just 'paper' to be stored in that big funky vault.
