Scavenger Hunt Sunday - 12 April 2014

My intention was to post photo's of one place centered around this week's words.  Until, a ton of obligations happened instead.  So, here's a shot from two springs ago!

A neglected place? All around, signs of spring and few shadows cast in dubious wonder, what's happening beneath those four rooftops?

Our hunt begins with neglected, signs of spring, last thing you bought, shadow and four things.

1.  Neglected

Unwanted house guests? Odd things occur when we leave houses empty!

2. Signs of SpRiNg!

I spy a BunnyCrow.

3.  Last Thing You Bought

4.  SHADow!

Just my dog and my shadow!

Catching my shadow's reflection!

5.  Four Things

Out on the town, with my soulful trio and Mr. Art Sculpture.

Dancing......Spring is in the air.

......and clowning around.

Why not check in to see what other folks uncovered, go here.

NEXT BEST THING TO BEING THERE

Sepia Saturday - 12 April 2014 "beating them bloody"

Welcome to another post for

SEPIA SATURDAY

While Mrs. Morton's Private Hotel is intriguing to follow, the idea of back stories to a place pulled my interest toward the town of Homer in Minnesota instead.

Beginning with a dose of "beating them bloody" while shanty claims were rashly and destructively, demolished in Dakota County.

The Willard Bunnell House

One of Minnesota's Gothic styled houses.

Laying the Foundation -  in depth story, here.

This house was built by, Willard Bunnell a fur trader as well as timber cutter in Minnesota.  Bunnell was also the founder of Homer, near the town of Winona, Minnesota.  He was instrumental in disposing the other town rivals by, "beating them Bloody" as the legend explains, newspaper link here.

If you have time, Willard Bunnell and his back story is quite interesting, and worth reviewing.

(for those folks on theme, here is a combination of four photos!)

If you want to see it today, with live interaction characters?

Good Fences # 3

Gather round another Good Fences post.

GOOD FENCES

The old home town looked the same-

As they stepped out of the car

Oh the brown, brown grass before us

and down the road

As we run down to meet

The Airplane!

And one wrought iron fence in a circle around the U.S. Air Force Airplane!

Complete with a locked gate!

The Mag -

"Put selfie on top of tree because I'm the star." - unknown

"I'll never try to fit in.  I was born to STAND OUT." - unknown

For Tess Kincaid, at Magpie Tales.  We're going to have tons of fun with this!
Be sure to check out other magpies as well.

THE MAG

SELFIE KEEPER THIS IS NOT

Rising from my red shoes
that's me
dreary dressed?
Locked away
in dismal sensations.
Really?
Okay another selfie.

How do I ever choose between
inviting after every
uninviting cheerless
priggish selfie?

Why not
just choose
already.
My skin the shade of vanilla pudding
one more selfie.

Don't patronize me
this isn't hard, unpolished glass
you see
it's me.
Amid smoldering ash of sorriness
and denial
delete spoiled selfie.

Wait

Poem interrupted-

this text just in

Joe: Crushing on this! :0
Me: ILY
Joe: BRO
Me: BSAAW

Thematic Photographic - 289 Everything's Gone Green

Ha! Ha? HA!

Is it a song?  Everything's Gone Green or your life story?

EVERYTHING'S GONE GREEN!

Or, so says Carmi, at Written Inc blog!  Possibly, not so much for him yet either, but he expects any day everything will be green.  I hope ours will too.

THEMATIC PHOTOGRAPHIC

So far, for me to see green,

I wander about our spectacular sculpture garden in Minneapolis.  Where it's been green and things have been blooming all winter long.

Nothing could be finer than to close the door to winter and let the newness tickle your weary soul.

Never be afraid to grab your rose colored glasses!

As a matter of fact, I've been using a lot of greener tints to our whiteness.

Explaining the photo below.  No, I didn't shoot this one.

One more well kept secret about what soothes my winter blues.  Texts with photos to my phone from friends and family during their winter getaways. This just in yesterday!

So, what's green in your world?
I'd like to see it.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday - 6 April 2014

It's that time again to begin our hunt for Ashley Sisk, at Ramblings and Photos.  This week I'm stretching her interpretations of macro, wheels, shiny, weather and favorite sports.

1.  Macro

2.  Wheels

3.  Shiny

Misty, are those Alien eyes?

4.  Weather

The melting process! Houston, we have a bench again.

Downtown Minneapolis today!

Everyday gets a step and degree closer to SpRiNg!

5.  Favorite Sports  (I have a few)

The sport of hunting statues and ornamental wonders.

Shadows in unexpected places is also a favorite sport of mine.

The sport of hunting mansions and other grandiose architecture around town.

Okay I confess!

It goes without saying, every time I use my camera is a favorite sport for me!

The Friday 56 - 4 April 2014

Hello Freda and her Friday 56 group, at Freda's voice.  I comment often, but this week I'm joining in too.

THE FRIDAY 56

Our challenge is to post a sentence or more from page 56, in any book we're reading.
I have to laugh that on this particular page it's very hard not to post the entire paragraph or more.  Here's mine.

"There are a billion three-letter 'words' in your genome.  Yet the length of just this one little motif is all that stands between each of us and mental illness."

Very Interesting!

"Man with all his noble qualities still bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of his lowly origin." Charles Darwin

Want to check out what others are reading, or possibly share your own? Here are the rules, from Freda at Freda's Voice blog.  It's so worth checking out.

Six Word Saturday - 5 April 2014

Good Fences # 2 - 3 April 2014

It's time again for Good Fences Link-Up!

GOOD FENCES # 2

From St. Paul, Minnesota, I offer a fence and part of the gate.

Welcome to the Alexander Ramsey House a Victorian-era house built by Minnesota's First Territorial Governor, Alexander Ramsey.  The house is alive with genuine family items and furnishings.  The Minnesota Historical Society offers an array of festive holiday tours, private or public and field trips for students of all ages, allowing them to be immersed within life, as it was, in the 1870's.

Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.

The wrought-iron fence that surrounds the house is still in excellent shape.

This wrought-iron fence includes a wide double gate, carrying the wrought-iron letters "AR" I bet you can see the "A" right away.

Rules to play along too.
1. Link in a post featuring a photo or photos of fences or gates.
2. Link back to Run*A*Round Ranch Report in your post or use the badge code to display the Good Fences button in your post that automatically links back here.
3. If time allows, please visit some of the other participants and comment on their shared posts.

Thematic Photographic - 288 - Logos

Carmi, from Written Inc blog, offered a photo of a familiar object, in an unusual color and shape and our minds weren't fooled for a second!

He's asked us to spend the week sharing  logos!  Any logo whatsoever, worldwide or from our own town.  It's your call!

How many logos do you recognize?

Need a closer look?  This is one commercial that always entertains!

"It's my charmingly cute looks, and cheery accent that grabs your attention I know!"  They market him as, a gold dust day gecko with a cockney accent, voiced by Jake Wood.  Thank you Jake for keeping it real!

How many could you guess?

Our theme logo will be a forever act in the world of advertising and our brain wave growth.  Logos are a symbol, design or object used to identify products. Commercial enterprises have been setting a place within our memory banks for ages.

The Morton Salt girl began in 1911.  She was a younger version of herself and it appears she stopped aging in 1968.  Pass the salt please?

Be sure to check out the other posts at Thematic Photographic, and why not bring your own to the group?
