Life Imitates Art at The Gibbes Museum

Welcome please join me for an exciting exhibit I viewed this last November in Charleston, South Carolina at The Gibbes Museum. I'm posting to City Daily Photo.

The Gibbes Museum of Art statement- Through our complicated history, through light and shadow, we have persevered-humanity intact. Art is the reason.

This exhibit is titled Life Imitates Art.
Join the #MuseumChallenge and recreate your favorite work of art.
Pictured below is Grace the Pug recreating Mrs. Robert Gilmor, Jr (Sarah Reeve Lodson, ca.1790-1866)1823 by Thomas Sully

Emmy and Sarah Ross recreate
Edmund Charles Tarbell's The Sisters 1921.

I think these girls are priceless in their portrayal. Great job.

Remember Your Why and Saturday Critters

Good morning fellow critter lovers and welcome to

 SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

I'm also posting to City Daily Photo. Remember, weekends don't count unless you're engaged in doing something completely random and pointless! Enjoy your weekend everyone and a few charming critters to brighten your day.

Nothing is more memorable than a smell. Ask any dog.

Also never forget all of your summer memories which last forever and help keep us warm all winter long.

Gone to the beach. Be back never.

Okay, I'm kidding.

After you fall you get up and try again.

It's the courage to continue that counts.

Ask any proud pup.

A man/woman/dog/critter sees in the world what he carries in his heart. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Nope they're not looking to get into trouble just hoping for treats.

"There are no bad dogs, there are only some that may not be as good as others."

Quoted by anyone living next door to a 24/7 barking dog!

I'm so beautiful!

Keep those family trip memories close to your heart. This photo from South Dakota.

"The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, river and cities; but to know someone who thinks and feels with us, and who, though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden." Goethe

The Best Version of Winter

Woo-Hoo! When I left work today it was 37 marvelous degrees! It's been difficult trying to find good things during these frozen tundra days, especially when temperatures are -17 below and the wind chills plunging as low as -27, it's hard to follow that happy-go-lucky mantra.

I'm posting to Words For Wednesday (words in green) and City Daily Photo.

I'm using all 12 words given to us by Hilary Melton-Butcher and posted by Elephant's Child blog, and here's a lovely winter quote to get us in the proper mood. By Lewis Carroll.

"I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again."

Lewis Carroll

Strolling Through Winter

Please take this jaunt with me as I unravel the near toxic experience that feels more like a hundred days and yet this frozen tundra lasted about two weeks.

Snowmen = Winter Happiness

Snowshine my only snowshine

with delicious Oreo eyes

 and crunchy carrot nose

you are my snowshine.

So horribly cold that even the beauty of hoarfrost stretched across the land disappeared and a bevy of folks have taken to leaving on a jet plane.

Such as it was, while others grabbed their maps and packed their cars to flee in search of warmer climates.

and yet the joke was on them.

Unfortunately, even those normally warmer cities were being slammed with ice storms, freezing temperatures and even snow, oh no.

This winter brings a vengeance that just won't end.
Frost hanging from branches, and forlorn weeds windblown and frozen like art in a winter-wonderland movie.

Lost and covered by frost and a blanket of snow across this weed garden and any hope for even a turnip or daffodil to pop up again is sadly months away.

Just the very sight of this hobbit like house is like something Lewis Carrol may have delicately slipped inside a scene from his nonsense poem, "Jabberwocky" amidst a calm winter day.

A shell of their former existence now dried up and lifeless but still owning a chrome yellow shade of color and makes a lovely background for this child statue.

It's no coincidence that you're surrounded by signs of winter as it whispers, which direction shall be your destiny?

Perhaps a bit of camping could spruce up our mojo?

Silly Frosty why are you carrying your carrot nose?

Go with the glow, I guess!

And I leave you with this one thought after our winter wonderland stroll.

"When we feel we have benched ourselves for too long, we must loosen up the unessential, get over our endless cringing and make a bold leap
to the glowing stars of our dream. ("Steaming ahead.")"
Erik Pevernagie

Take good care of you and enjoy every moment.

Happy New Year Critters

Happy New Year and welcome to 2022 and

You are the Universe in Ecstatic Motion

Welcome, I hope everyone is enjoying all of your traditions and celebrations during the holidays.

Posting to City Daily Photo.

Every living thing is precious somehow.

T.A. Barron

"There must be a reason for holiday hoopla. A reason the halls are bedecked there must be somebody behind all of this, and a cause for this spectacular effect."

It might just be a Fire-Fighting Elf with a few shenanigans at the ready.

Today's gentle snow fall.

"Don't think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter.

It's quiet

but the roots are down there riotous."

Rumi

"Every piece of the universe, even the tiniest little snow crystal, matters somehow. I have a place in the pattern, and so do you. Thinking of you this holiday season."

T. A. Barron

"It does not matter how long you are spending on the earth, how much money you have gathered or how much attention you have received. It is the amount of positive vibration you have radiated in life that matters."

Amit Ray

Everyone matters. Even Snowmen.

"Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion."

Rumi

Greetings from my two daughters in law!

Cheers everyone.

"A life-whether seamstress or poet, farmer or king-is measured not by length, but by the worth of its deeds, and the power of its dreams."

T.A. Barron

"Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment."

Rumi

"Stories help me. To live. To work. To find the meaning hidden in every dream, every leaf, every drop of dew."

T.A. Barron

"When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy."

Rumi

There seems to be a bit of magic in the ordinary silent snowfall,

as it touches the human heart. If we let it.

So, banish all winter darkness. See the cardinal as he appears in your yard, it's a visitor from heaven.

Whenever a little magic is needed linger about those things that cheer you.

Thank you for your visit, enjoy your holiday celebrations and

take good care of you.
