Thematic Photographic - # 156 - Red - 1 Aug

Welcome to another Thematic Photographic where Carmi, from Written Inc. has declared our week's theme to be - RED - So, flowing along through RED ... (rather fitting with the red hot heat spreading about! )

So if red it is....we can visit the Fourth of July Parade..... for some red hot red!
So many fire engines screaming red.....from every town around us......loud and crazy sirens......

and naturally being a dog lover...I have to include a shot of one of my favorite dogs sporting a bit of red himself...

Snoopy has fans everywhere he goes......doesn't he?

So Red it shall be....did I mention that RED has never really been a favorite color of mine....so searching through my collections of photos for RED can be a challenge!

Like this RED that caught my eye......for reasons other than color!
It was a lovely summer's day on the docks of the Navy Pier in Chicago....
Red may not be my most favorite color, but it certainly is the color of choice for advertisers.... RED is read and seen all over advertising, from long ago yesterday through this very moment in time......

So much to sell...so little time...must grab buyer's attention quickly!

The color RED attracts the eyes of the consumer....every time....think this will sell quickly?  Fresh red paint.....
So what is your perception of color ......what do you see when you stare at this next photo?

REMEMBER STARE AT IT FOR A BIT..... and what do you see?
Do you see red where it should be?

Did you see red in all the right places?
I bet you did....

.....and if you care like spreading your own red for all of us to see go here
http://writteninc.blogspot.com/2011/08/thematic-photographic-156-red.html

Trust me it's quite fun playing this game...you get to see a wide range of things from Bob S. posting a very sporty red to PaperBackWriter's riding the rails...check them all out.....and if it's something that glows from the sky see what Max has in store ....thanks Carmi for giving us a home to post photos that just might not have been posted if not for Thematic Photographic!
Thanks for stopping by...enjoy your week and don't forget to notice RED!

I never liked red, the power color. It should be reserved for flowers.

Great set of "red" photos, from the bright red fire engine to the "can you see the red" black and white. I saw some of the red in it, but not all of it (I didn't think of the background being red). And, of course, Snoopy is always cool.

Love the fire engine! Great choice.
And I've always been a Snoopy fan.

F-i-i-re engine! Perfect. You did a great job of rounding up all things red and roping them together in this post.

You've come up with a great set of red shots here, Karen. Go Snoopy!

Yes I saw red : but red is perhaps my favourite colour although I must admit I haven't thought of the concept of a "favourite" colour for decades. But, still, if I had to cast my vote : red would win.

Now why didn’t I think of fire-engines? That was inspired. For a lady who doesn’t like red much you did amazingly well. Still can’t come to terms with those giant Snoopy characters...I shall have nightmares :)

Fine red photos. My fire engine would have been red and white so I didn't consider using it; your fire engine wins the day for me.

"Seeing red" has never been a good thing... until now!

I can't miss red, my car is red! Speaking of red cars did you know, well here anyways, to insure a red vehicle is more expensive than any other color of a vehicle? I was thinking about why this might be and came to the conclusion that red is the color of a target, maybe those with road rage hit more red cars? lol I don't have a clue!

So with the fire trucks where's the smokin hot firemen? ;-) I didn't see red in the black and white photo, I knew what should be red but I didn't see it. I even looked for about a minute just to check it out.

Have a great day, fun post by the way!

I didn't see red in the last photo either...but I knew where it was. Is there something wrong with my eyes? But I think I still have my imagination, luckily. A fun theme!

Max - good for you that you saw some red. I saw that idea at a museum where they put up the U.S. flag painted in grey and after looking long into the grey our brain was supposedly going to show us the true colors..it did work for me, but some of the students didn't see it.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, this red was at first feeling hard to do!

Darlin, there were a great many handsome and awfully young fireman and actually a couple of ladies too....and children and oh yeah a firehouse doggie...with his incredible black spots! All inside the trucks! I bet you'd see the red better if it was really in front of you then on the computer screen!

Barbara and Nancy thanks for stopping by and for trying to see red in the B and white...or rather grey scale!

It grabs my eye every single time. As do your pictures. I would never have known it's not your fave, Karen, as you've captured the tones with such richness. Every one stops me dead in my tracks and makes me wish we could do the red thing for more than a week

Come to think of it, maybe we'll revisit it sometime soon. Thanks for the prompt!
