Alphabe-Thursday - Celebrating - The Letter D

THIS IS AN ALPHABE-THURSDAY POST

In celebration of the letter "D"  I offer  "decoration"
and Jenny from Off on my tangent blog, allows all week to complete our "Letter D" assignment.

Decoration defined, is an addition that renders something more attractive or ornate, adornment.....

Oh yes, tis the season to pack away our autumn delights in exchange for all things bright and out of sight - since about this time last year..... farewell for now autumn decorations.

Decorations don't always have to cost a bundle either.  See these delightful musical figurines?  They came from the "Dollar Store"....yes, really.  Most everyone who sees them, begs to know where I found them....please don't tell, okay!

I will be most pleased, if my children continue to create as many of their own decorations locked within their imaginations and share them with the rest of us.....

......and what could be more delightful than.....

to hang something fresh from your own backyard, not too much just a whisper of something alive.....keep them guessing - are these decorations real or not.....that shall be the question of the hour.....

A person always feels better when they create......

I especially like moving about my house late at night while every ones fast asleep, while visions of whimsy dance through their dreams...before they awake to see.....

our tree decorated with so many pretty bulbs in the hopes that kitty cat paws and little fingers won't break too many again this year.....

One of these days I'll have too many decorations.  Some are from my childhood, many from my own children's hands, or that of friends and loved ones.  Best are they that come from the heart of someone special...and once in awhile I'll buy just one more.
Soon there will be no more room for tree......oh no!

Funny how things happen, every year one or two disappear either by breakage, or tucked away in the hands of someone cherishing their Christmas past...and I'll see it again on another tree dear to us.

Everybody knows just how wise owls are, so why not include as many owls as you can when you decorate!

On a snowy moonlit night I shall wish upon an owl......
as he hides inside our tree
oh how I wish I might see an owl tonight.

When you're decorating with your very own delicious treats, why not serve them on something filled with festive spirit, like....

                                       A Frosty Platter.......
Even if you don't put anything on your Frosty Platter - he's still such a delight to see!

                      Oh no! A bare Frosty!

Decorating with angels, musical or not, is always a wise thing to do....

To decorate something festive and of your own design, why not look inside your goody bag of bits and pieces and ribbons and bows and other artsy things.   You can create within less than an hour if you wish to that quickly, your very own Whimsical jar for candy or those long candy canes you just don't know how to store.....
I will be using this jar, but you could use a vase, or glass or any other object you can find!

....this is the end result for my decorated jar ... yours is what ever you wish it to be!

You can give it away or keep it as one of your special decorations!

You know your child is all grown up when they tell you, "Mom, it's not so much about the presents, but more about the decorations and all the things we share....like climbing in the truck and going to cut our tree...."

Yes, Virginia, those decorations are special, aren't they?!

So if you haven't got the link to turn in your assignment here it is

I already qualify for the "too many decorations" category! There is no room on the tree for all the decorations from my own childhood, plus all the ornaments collected for and by all the kids over the years. But each one is special even so!

Galen- I so know the feeling, these last few years I have been putting back boxes that just don't fit on the tree....it used to be I didn't have enough in the boxes!

Boy, if these photos don't get you in the mood, nothing will! No such thing as too many decorations. Oh, and I have a certain fondness for the letter D. :)

Oh yes, wait until you get my age. I have WAY too many decorations. Funny thing is, I go to my daughters homes and they have tons of my old ones. How did I ever get this much? Love way too many things. lol! Your decor is looking very festive. Now that I no longer have little ones at home, I am the one doing the breaking. Must be reverting back to my childhood. Once in a while a grandchild will break something. But more often than not, it's the grandma. Your jar turned out very cute. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

I love the definition of decoration and wonder whether you have hit on the meaning of life. Could it be decoration? - to leave this world more attractive and adorned than we found it.

Precious ornaments, which pretty Christmas atmosphere. Greetings.

Decorations belongs to the letter D, which comes right after the letter C which includes "clutter." Sometimes I think our alphabet is backwards :)

That said, putting up the Christmas tree is the highlight of the year for me--it went up last Saturday!

The musical figures are great. They look a bit like clowns.

I had to buy a new tree this year and it only came today, so we haven't decorated yet. However, I have things that my mother saved that I made in preschool and I'm almost 66 years old. My youngest son is almost 36 and his brothers are in their 40's and I have many of the things they made in preschool and elementary school too. So, our tree is decorated each year with lots of faded construction paper that's now scotch taped together, but I love it! Every decoration is a memory.

Karen, if Rod put all the decorations on our tree that I have packed in the attic, no green would show. Your decorations are special and beautiful! I would like to say that I am jealous, but I can't. I don't do decorations for reasons that are best remained unspoken. If someone else (Rod) wants to do them, they are more than welcome. I started making my own ornaments almost 50 years ago--little toy drums made from halved toilet paper rolls with gold thread, tissue paper, and toothpicks for drumsticks, three dimensional stars, blown eggs made into birds with sequins and feathers--I could go on and on. Now, I only want it to be over and done with. Yes, I know I have a bad attitude, but I came by it honestly.

Seeing all your happy decorations has pushed me to start in our own decorating...but first, away go those autumn touches.

It's official. I am finally ready to start decorating my own house.

Your post just got me in the mood. I wasn't earlier today or even this past weekend.

But I'm going to make Mr. Jenny start hauling bins in now!

I'm sure he won't appreciate your post as much as I do!

This was delightful. I love all the beautiful ways you described things here.
