Saturday Centus - November Wakes

WELCOME TO

SATURDAY CENTUS

This post is about Flash-Fiction where Jenny, From off on my tangent, blog offers with ever changing rules for responding.  This week- "Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November" is the 8 word prompt - any style of writing- 108 words maximum - and any number of photos.

This is Jenny's corresponding photo for our prompt.

NOVEMBER WAKES

From the dim,
last dregs of my memories
I still think of you.
Under gloomy November skies.

The alarm clock of my soul
rings amid a sulfurous rage
cursing your good-bye-
under waning spring skies.

I treasure soaring memories
of gentle nights-
smelling thawed earth
and whispering showers
whilst unleashing hopeful promises.

Now gone astray
long before these November skies.
My body silhouetted against
unseasonable wars of change
and shattered promises.

A drizzling, ugly thought
bedding itself down for the night,
casting a dark slanting light
so I recite
Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November,
and in 121 days
you’ll come back
Whenever April showers come along.

Well done, Karen. I like "the alarm clock of my soul" and your use of occasional rhyme.

=)

I like that not everything rhymes. That is a long time to wait though...

Bravo, excellent job Karen! How long does it take you to come up with something like this? I'm curious how much time you spend writing in a day is all. I too have to get focused on writing one of these fine days, after my grad that is and start putting the words to paper... after all they say a writer writes, funny how that one works en? lol

Cheers.

At first, my thoughts were "Oh how sad for this soul whose love has left...I could feel the despair (wonderful words linked together...creating the mood)..but then was lifted up with the anticipation of their reunion :o)
(Perfect representation of many who have experienced periods of separation, such as military deployments).

Blessings & Aloha!
I am at our daughter, son in law, and grandbaby's home visiting, but wanted to stop by and say thank you for your lovely visit! & I hope you are able to stop by again Nov 9th when I share the fun coin purse hop that I joined...it truly is a cute pattern that was provided :o)

This was super cool Miss Karen.

So often when I read something you write I say, 'A-ha!' to myself.

I never think of the direction you came from.

I never imagine the place you are taking us.

And I am always impressed and amazed.

Very cool.
