The Mag - 142

WELCOME -

Once again we enjoy - Tess Kincaid's photo prompt for

THE MAG

Charis Wilson
Weston

1937

Lake Ediza - California

Photography by- Edward Henry Weston

Once upon a romance, long ago there was a photographer and he met a lovely, young lady....

Sitting, Between a Rock and a Hard Place

She-
Tired- but eloquent just the same.

A brief nine years before she went
away for places beyond.

Perhaps these knee-high laced up boots
were saying
here she sits one lost, lone survivor.

Wandering silent figures-
they were-
moving blindly into whatever lay beyond
his adulterous affairs.

Was it shame?
Or skill in just another sensual game
that they always shared?
What drove her naked body up and down
sand dunes?

Her warm sweet breath cascading over him
rolling across the hot sands
of their days spent
shooting.

Her very first sight of him
He being the most alive person in one room
and
capturing every one's attention -

He- the one man, whose eyes saw
twice as much as anyone else saw.

She sits in his shadow of life and womb
until
 her eyes close.
Her thoughts that day lay still
 her soul- almost alien
until
her yearning heart - his selfish endeavours
are to blame
for their demise.

and so
She embarks upon a voyage of love
with lips trembling
and holding-

The key
to her heart-
was his no more.

Yes, the poem is exquisite with that sweet sensuality.

He did take some pretty lovely photographs of her both clothed and nudes. From what I read of her, she seems to have been very much her own person.
You really wrote a lovely poem here.

Other than this photo I know nothing of the photographer. I saw grace and strength and beauty.

You have given me history and truth and wrapped it beautifully in your words that shine like a Christmas bow.

Beautiful! Oh, that we all could experience the fire, the romance in your words.

I never even heard of her, but now I want to know more. How do you find this interesting stuff?!

Galen- thanks, but all the credit goes to Tess Kincaid in her selection of photos for The Mag- a part of her Magpie Tales! She brings out some very amazing people!

This really is wonderful. You use historical facts to weave something true and lyrical.

This one pulls at the heartstrings. Some lovely descriptive phrases here too.

Little Nell- thanks, they both had a way of doing that to me, once I read all about their life together. He was some busy man!

I have found so many of the women (at least their photographs) from the 1940s and older to be rather homely in appearance, but she is most certainly not one of them!

Jerry- you are totally right! She has a sweet gentle beauty about her!

Between a rock and a hard place was a great way to describe the prompt. Congrats.

Weston almost covers his muse , like a Burqa, does he both love and wish to possess her at once? , i think gou captured that with your words

Really lovely! I like how you delved into their real-life love story.

Such a grand insight - love facts and fiction. Made it more lively!
