"Where do I begin?" - Salvador Dali

THE MAG

Venus de Milo with Drawers, 1936, Salvador Dali

A ravage fire spread through Salvador Dali, from the moment he first saw her.  He fell rapidly under the bewitching charms of
Venus de Milo.

...and so he began to work.

Fantasme

 Salvador Dali,
hungered by her alien nature
crazed by torture
and the swelling fullness
of her naked bosom.
Dali, duly crushed by the very
 vacancy
and emptiness
of no arms to caress him.

Obsessed was he
forlorn Dali
to shape
 this strange malady
we shall forever see.
How dare he
  fathom
by summing his misfortune
and
shelving her complexities
in cube-like drawers
for all to see,
that we'd agree?

Dali is one of my favorites. I have some good material because the Dali Museum is located here in Florida.

Interesting, Dali is a strange artist- at least he did not bend
and warp her! thanks.

He must have been referring to anglo saxon western society with this one, because his own Goddess would have had many arms , i think, Dalis Durga . Or sometimes Kali and Dali !. Cheers mate

This is stellar. It really grabs me, especially when you phrase it as, How dare he..."

If you keep trying to show proof of the existence of the stone statue cult, you may find yourself buried in pigeon poop in the not too distant future.

Shelving her complexities? Yes, that's what he did all right. Nicely put Karen.

I love "shelving her complexities". Great!

Mary - thank you, because that sums up my real opinion of his work, really. It kind of surprises me that a man that was so taken by this statue could create what he did really!

Little Nell- I know - how dare he, say I!!

Interesting take on this one. I especially liked this part:

"shelving her complexities
in cube-like drawers."
