Saturday Centus - 22 June 2013

"Lightning is something which, again, we would rather avoid." - Richard Branson

Welcome to Saturday Centus, on Saturday.

The prompt this week:   Write 100 words about the picture above

Number of words:  No more than 100 total
Style of writing: Any
Additional Pictures: Any

 Freeze Action
My Best Defense

Soundless thoughts surround me
as I toss and turn
through the horizon
of my awareness.

Everything aglow
beneath the distant roar.

Eerie lights against my face
thunder echoed beneath
groaning clouds
and fat raindrops
against my face.

Oh so many times
my thoughts wander in my half-slumber
as I'm

 awakened by
reflections of
life

But it's thunder
that worries me most
and smelling electricity
through the air
and cracks of lightning
filling the room

around me
flashing down all around me.

Until that one certain flash of lightning
 strikes deep within
I know
through the shutters of belief
this too shall pass.

You did a really classic job with that. Some great lines, Karen.

Wonderful, and completely calls up the feeling of lying awake in a storm.

I never understood how you make a picture like the one with the lightning.

Karen: You are the James Joyce of poetic imagery. Excellent!

If the thunder don't get ya, then the lightning will.

I so dislike when storms like that happen during the night and wake me up. Scary!

Wow. What intense imagery.

This was really powerful!

I like the way you can interpret the words on different levels!

Karen this is remarkable! Have you ever thought of publishing? The writing you do should be published, it's that good!
