Thematic Photograph - 254 Signs of the times

“The sign said don’t do it, so naturally I did it. Signs are always saying stuff in a silent way.
Writing is a way to say something in a silent way.
”     Jarod Kintz, Seriously delirious, but not at all serious.

THEMATIC PHOTOGRAPH

Oh my, this theme could "sign deeply" in so many directions.

Carmi, at Written Inc. has set, "Signs of the times" in motion for our theme this week.  I actually shot this newest and most interesting "sign" last week, before this theme came to be!

When observed,  it promises to promote safety over railroad tracks!

Have any of you ever seen this sign yet?

Or, wish you had?

Nature's sign of the times, all the time.

The caterpillar does all the work, but the butterfly gets all the publicity." - George Carlin

Just goes to show, signs can lead us to something other than what we think it is!

Hehehehe, they are a set of children's chest of drawers.  Made by my son, and offered for free, during their move.  Fooled so many folks driving by,
 "What? Those aren't tool boxes."

A true sign of the times below.  This was taken at our neighborhood playground.

Can you read this sign?

This sign will help!

The answer is, "Yes, I can.  How about you?"

Lastly, I cannot do a post about signs, without posting the link for one of my old favorites songs, that comes to mind with "signs" click on to hear it too!

So why not bring us a sign of your own just go here

A sign about sign language - brilliant take on the theme. And although I've railroad crossing sign, I've never seen the "Trucks that get high centered on the tracks will be hit by lightning bolts" sign before.

That railroad crossing sign is quite graphic, isn't it?

I was once stopped on the tracks at a railroad crossing by a red traffic light. To be quite honest about it, I don't remember where it happened, nor what happened next--except for the fact that the trailer I was hauling at the time was not hit by a train. The situation was that there was a set of railroad tracks that ran parallel to a city street, with there being around 50 feet between them. The street I was on crossed over the tracks and came to a "T" at the parallel street. Well, they had it set up to where the traffic light at the street intersection would turn red for the street I was on when a train was coming, and I was left without enough room to completely clear the railroad tracks. As I said before, I do not remember how the situation was resolved, and it may very well be that they are still looking for the driver of the truck that ran over a dozen cars in a panic over possibly being ran over by a train. Be assured that I sincerely hope not.

You have found a wonderful set of signs! Loved the caterpillar sign best! Still trying to work out whast the first one is actually telling me. Think I'd be a bit confused if I came across it as a tourist!

I can't say I'm able to sign my name that way.

I like the caterpillar quotes, without caterpillars there would be no butterflies!

Eek! Cross that railroad at your peril! Great set of signs and I rather like the caterpillar one too.

The sign language sign is a classic! And living in a city criss-crossed with tracks, the railroad crossing sign hit very close to home: hardly a week goes by that we don't have an accident here.

Thanks for always making the themes yours, Karen. I love following you on your photographic journeys!

Having watched a nature programme about butterflies this week I understand how the caterpillar feels.
More of us, including me, should learn sign language - super for the theme.
