The Mag

"A poem begins in delight and ends in wisdom." - Robert Frost

THE MAG

 Magpie Tales

My Magpie begins in a most peculiar way.

Have you ever wondered what a Haiku might say to a spoonerism-
if, they had met on this stone path?

It might possibly go like this.

The Haiku

Cozy little nook
I am steady as a rock
please ease my tears?

Can you listen here,
once there was a lonely stair
Now it's pouring rain.

Lighting a fire
descending a crushing blow
So must be good-bye.

The Spoonerism

Nosey little cook
I am ready as a stock
please tease my ears?

Can you, hiss and lear
once there was a stonely lair
Now roaring with pain.

Fighting a liar
descending a blushing crow
so gust be mood-bye.

Spoonerisms are a fun little slip of the tongue.  (Or tips of the slung!) Or like, A lack of pies as, A pack of lies.)
William Archibald Spooner, whose name is given to the linguistic phenomenon of spoonerism.
Where accidently, common phrases, and simple words and letters or syllables get swapped and humor ignites.

The pun is mightier than the sword. - unknown

So, when asked in open court, I can honestly testify that it was just a spoonerism--certainly not a Freudian Slip?

Jerry- Absolutely! I spent the day at the Minnesota Renn-fest on Sunday and the Zilch The TorySteller is one of my favorite acts to catch, so of course when faced with the magpie of this week, I had only one toute to rake! If you haven't ever seen his show you should!

For anyone that may care for the flair of Zilch the TorySteller and the man that drove me to include his kind of fun-exciting-nail-biting everyday work, here's his link.

What an excellent picture, could be used in a movie. No problem.

Greetings,

Sue- I know, it's so funny playing with words and seeing how easily it can be turned into another thought!
