Starry Night by Alex Ruiz
SHOOTING or,
FAILING STAR
He hopes to know
Take root if he may, unfettered and alive his might.
Who and what we wonder-
will win tonight?
Shadows yawning in the light, stretching bright.
A shower of golden rays descend this painted scene
reaching towards tonight.
Yet facing as it may, dancing through horizon's light
laid by swishing strokes, a hopeful wish, brushing towards tonight.
This brightly vivid painted scene
speaking through, invisible seams, never too bright
this shower of blushing
gentle strokes, before disrobing
its way upon his easel, by evening's light.
His wishes may not take flight
and so upon this scene
and so upon this scene
take the boot he may, and burn his brushes by tonight
in a most unsettled and deprived blight
if he loses yet tonight.
I'm hoping he keeps the fight
painting his way toward the light-
into the pail moonlight.
painting his way toward the light-
into the pail moonlight.

sounds like a lot of angst for that painter!
YES! as one of my favorite painters says " Paint everyday so you will paint tomorrow"
We all need hope...painters included. :-)
Yes, as a child I watched the stars in the hope of knowing!
Your lovely opening quartet of lines would make a masterful epitaph for a painter!

He paints simply because he must ...and he will go on painting , i daresay !
I believe we are compelled by silent voices (such as those that demanded he take his ear) Nice Mag!
