Collecting

Collect Moments not Things

It was a moment from The Hounds and the Baskervilles Thursday morning.

Just BE happy!

"I like to do things quickly, because I'm easily bored." - Karl Lagerfeld

Sharing your muscle power for those you love.

We're washing Aunt Cierra's old car here!  You're never too young to wash a sweet ride like this one!  (Painted by Cierra)

"What I like about photographs is they capture a moment that's gone forever.  Impossible to reproduce."  - Karl Lagerfeld

Okay, yesterday would have been my mother's birthday.  It was a day of great reflection for me.

"Memories warm you up from the inside. But they also tear you apart." - Haruki Murakami

Pictured here is my youngest son sitting with my mother.  Sometimes I wish I could turn back the hands of time and change the way we were when I was little.  We struggled horribly, both us of were quite relentless too.  But a delightful thing happened once I became a mother.  She became the perfect grandmother for all my children, and they loved her dearly.   So through all the years that followed until I read her one last story, and she slipped away, we had a perfect relationship just like mothers and daughters should.

You can't get those moments back, but the memories of them live on forever.

If you don't have a special place, find one quickly.  Then thank yourself that you did.

"The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain.  It's the loneliness of it.  Memories need to be shared."  Lois Lowry, The Giver

If you haven't ever read The Giver, you should.

I tell Dina often (she tires of it probably) that life is short.

I loved this post. My dad's birthday is coming up -- he'll have been gone 21 years now; seems like yesterday. Yes, we all look back. And really, it's a wonderful time for reflection.
