Welcome to the streets of Winona, Minnesota. Winona, was named after Princess We-Noh-Nah, daughter of Chief Wa-pa-shaw.
Not to mention all the Randomness of art placed around our neighboring towns adding to the already existing charm of historic buildings.
Did I mention Minnesota has picturesque bluffs? Even during winter they have a charm of their own.

But not everything was in welcoming mode. About 1 A.M. on this Saturday a raging fire roared in downtown Winona. Fire investigators were still on the scene when I shot these two photos.
These two pictures below were taken the day after the fire.

Nobody was hurt in the blaze.

Yes, there are many faces to every piece of art.
You see truthfully, my meandering soul begs to retrace that long old highway that every summer growing up our family would travel all it's worthy way to Florence, Arizona to visit my grandfather.
There still are places nestled along the old Route 66 and I swear this summer we'll track them down.

Aloha from Island City 🌴♥☁
Wow, are you good! No matter what I do, my photos always come out lousy. Do you do any photography professionally?
That is a neat looking town. Great photos and what a fun sculpture. Have a great weekend :)
Keep on rocking!

Great pictures! I like the bluffs.
Loved this post. Great photos and an interesting looking place. But - wait: this IS the same Winona in Bob Troup's classic 'Route 66' isn't it!? A classic from my band days - and I still love it. Please don't tell me it's another Winona, it will quite ruin my weekend.
Lots of pictures and ambiance. For some reason, thee Rt 66 Rocker made me think of Young Frankenstein, and the scene when they arrive at the castle. He says, "My, what knockers." and she says, "Well, thank you."
Yes...my mind wanders on Fridays.
so sorry about the fire. i've been to winona, mn a couple of times as a kid. visiting relatives there. my father's family came from that area before moving to wisconsin.
A great assortment of pics! Cool sculpture.
like the fascinating artwork round the town
I wish I had that wonderful bird woman in my town! It's fabulous. You have wonderful angles and details here Karen. Very nice!
There have been so many fires this winter at the jersey shore, I don't ever remember so many fires!!
Otherwise, a fun set of images and a beautiful, colorful piece of artwork!!
Special art. Like it.
Greetings,
Filip
Beautifully thoughtful post. I love it.
I think that Tolkien may have studied Buddha...maybe...seems like it, anyway. Great quotes!
The famous route 66! Love the multicolored stork (or is it a heron, I'm not a ornithologist). The stork is the symbol of The Hague BTW.
