Black and White Wednesdays - Still

Still

"Everything takes time.
Bees have to move very fast to stay still."
David Foster

If I could board a plane for Brazil, which of course I can't,
 I'll pedal my bike instead-

Across the barren stillness of this gift of spring-
knowing surely it wouldn't last.

Still hoping, spring has surely sprung.
Yet feeling dampness in the air,
not by skill but by winter's hold
 clutching still-

Oh how the breath of winter still grasps from afar, swaggering across my afternoon sky forcing my feet to be still.

By Sunday evening-

Above me I catch billowing,
  Art Deco peaks floating
 ever so still,
 gliding ever silently over me.

So it goes winter returns.
Yet to reassure me-
shapely curled smoke rings
rising high from chimneys
 break the chill
of my evening air in silent frill.

I know this stillness not by skill,
 but by reason and reality.

So winter wins and leads on still-
and I shall travel nowhere without a shovel.  Still
a girl can dream right?

Lovely Karen! The images and words you share really are spring! It's a tentative time for all before it warms up for good. Living in CA I miss this part of spring. Big hug! ♥

I sure hope so! Just a week ago we had 70 degree weather! Then boom winter returned!

Sadly winter returned! Just shot the snowy scene this morning! We got 10 inches on Sunday night!

I do enjoy having 4 seasons, but once spring arrives and lingers for more than a week- winter should stay away! Hehehe!

Lovely collection of black and white photos! I hope you won't have to just dream about spring for too much longer.

One longs for the greenery and goodness of spring! It is just that winter is tenaciously holding on in some regions!
Spring will come certainly! Wonderful pics Karen!

Snow is forecast this weekend for KS. We barely had any until the past few weeks. Such a strange year.
Hope you get to lay down your shovel very soon.

Very lovely b&w's, Karen. I especially love the car. Here in GA, we were at 80 degrees yesterday with light rain.
