Life That Surrounds Us

Saturday's Critters

You never have to travel too far for a critter sighting.

Here piggy, piggy.

"Only by going alone in silence, can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness.  All other travel is mere dust and hotels and baggage and chatter." - John Muir

Life That Surrounds You
is something, we all can count on.

Invitation:
"If you are a dreamer, come in.

If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hoper, a pray-er, a magic-bean-buyer
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!"
Shel Silverstein

Showing off-

"Nope, this is, the real me! Bark! Bark!"

Good morning Francis.

Happy Elliott!

"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe." - John Muir

Sniffing, lots of bunny tracks all over, and a few deer tracks as well.  Misty, misses nothing.

Yep, our driveway is getting a bit snowy! Finally.

Funny thing about these trees, (I often recall back in the early 90's when we dug the holes) they were wee little babes then.  We placed them ever gently into the waiting earth.  Amazing what a couple of decades can do for their growth.

The incredible stories they could share!

"A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease."
John Muir

Ah yes, let winter rule for just a short while, hopefully.  The deep freeze has arrived.

Enjoy your weekend and your warmth!

Nice shots, Karen. I rely on the hounds quite a bit for critters!

Plenty of critters and wonderful letters strung together to make them sparkle. Still love the magic of the "Froschkoenig".

I watched the Viking/Seahawk game this afternoon. Sadly, you guys loss, but I was pulling for you and it seemed cold. I was once at a game when it was in the single digits and it was frigid sitting there. That curly haired black dog looks like a wonderful mutt.

John Muir was a wise man!
We don't have snow here, but the temps are in the mid 20s...cold enough to hurt, but I don't mind if I can get out and take pictures. Have a super day, Karen!

Hi Karen, just catching up with people who've left comments on my blog over the past few weeks as I've got way behind. Your dog looks like a sweetie & really like the Alpacas, or are the Llamas, I'm not so sure. I am seeing so many blogs with photois of snow & we're in the middle of a very hot summer here in Tasmania at the moment. I'd rather be a bit cold that too hot &^ we badly need some rain especially for the poor old Farmers..
