Stuff You Find in the Basement

A haiku theme hint.

Keeper of old stuff.
Down under, sometimes chilly
In lower dwelling.

This week our theme for
is
Stuff You Find In
The Basement

A lovely lighted basement

completed in 1891 inside the James J. Hill house.
I've toured this historic house more than any other in Minnesota.

That which is built with strength
lives on.
Me

Town's first jail cell located in the basement,
or did they call them cellars
back then? My grandmother always did.

Another historic place, this one in Mantorville, Minnesota
I wrote a post about that historic place you can read here.

From the basement thoughts of my mind.

You can spot a kitty in the shining light in many basements.

Things we store in our basement wine cellars.

Basements are where we hide
those things we buy for
 special occasions.

BOOM!

Did you hear that?

When the warning sirens for tornadoes blow,
families head to the basement!

Stuff your heart and soul with nature.

On those days we're feeling blue,
or just out of sorts
we bust away from the confines of basements

it's the blue waters of any lake that calm our
troubled shores.

Really,

"Our pleasures are not material pleasures,
but symbols of pleasure.

Not all bulbs need winter storage.

Attractively packaged but inferior in content."
Alan W. Watts

Thanks for stopping in enjoy your week, rain and sun and all of it-
and take good care of you.

I love this. Basements are curious places. I am in the process of purging ours, again, and reorganizing what we keep. We do not want to haul unnecessary things up to the UP when we go. Your post hit home. Hugs.

They tend to be gathering places for stuff too! Our dogs have never liked to go down the basement!

No basements here. The attic of my mind is crowded enough.
Love the finds you have given us.

Basements fascinate me. Probably because I have never had one since I live in Florida.

Fascinating stuff, Karen! In this country, houses don't have basements (or cellars) generally speaking - I can't imagine what mine would be like if I had one. I'm not a real hoarder, but I do find it hard to throw/give things away.

Hello, Karen! I would not mind a cellar full of wine! I like the kitty in the sunlight. We have downsized and cleaned out our basement.

It is good to bust out and enjoy the outdoors. Cute photo of the kiddies! Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!

I don't have either a basement or an attic.. I feel quite deprived Karen.. only kidding ☺ a basement does sound like a brilliant storage area, but the big blue skies even better 😀
