How many of you have heard of The Running of the Meatballs? Well for those unaware you'll soon learn all about it in my post today. Of course, plenty of critters, wooden, live or hairy on display as well. Enjoy.
Don't let yesterday take up too much of today.

I'll also introduce you to some iconic decorative wooden horses from Sweden called Dala Horses or Dalahaster like the one below.

"Minimalism is the thing that gets us past the things so we can make room for life's important things.
Which aren't things at all."
"She says nothing at all but simply stares upward into the dark sky and watches, with sad eyes, the slow dance of the infinite stars. Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human? Pointless, really. Do the stars gaze back? Now, that's a question." Neil Gaiman

The Running of the Meatballs
A unique and hilarious downhill race of thousands of meatballs (brown painted golf balls) rolling wildly down that's not only fun to watch but is a huge fundraiser for the museum.

So now what are you going to do with the rest of your weekend?
The way I see it is this, our futures are filled with new levels of aliveness and possibilities and a vast amount of adventures, if we decide to uncover them, and claim them to be ours.
Thanks for cruising in and gifting me with your thoughts.
Take good care of you!

Beautiful series of photos.
Beautiful photos and marvelous captions!
Looks like a great community event
This made me smile start to finish!
Nice with the Dala horse. Dalahäst in Swedish, I collected them as a kid.
Hello,
The running of the meatballs sounds fun. I love the critter photos, the cute doggies and the horses. What a fun post, great quotes and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Thank you Cloudia I feel the love and am sending it your way too. Aloha.
I'd never heard of the Meatball's thing.. such fun. You got so many great pictures.
Aloha Cloudia, I'll have to change my anonymous from my iPhone not sure why it doesn't show my name. The above comment was from me!
Thank you it was a super day in between the rain and sun and I took as many photos as I could! Enjoy your week thanks for stopping by.
Thank you for your comment and your delightful blog as well your photos are wonderful too!
Thanks for coming by, and that event was its 50th year, amazing right?! This time of year, is a favorite of mine trying to visit as many of these town events as possible although many run on the same day so it's hard to catch them all.
Thanks it was a great day to be there too!
Yes, a lot of Swedes actually attend and its fun meeting them. Every single time I visit Scandia and their Swedish museum I learn new things. It's wonderful and those Dalahast horses are everywhere in town!
Thanks, Eileen, for your lovely comment and it was a blast although there were two other cities I enjoy their festivals happening the same day. Can't always be everywhere, but I try. Love this these town events, always. Enjoy your week ahead and take care.
I know I had never heard of it before, and the entire event is called Taco Daze which is so funny being from a Swedish community! But wonderful and the taco delights are delicious.
Very interesting post Karen. I have never heard of the running of the meatballs. Is there a winner of the run ? I am sure you have seen the teapot in Lindstrom MN. They have fixed it so it now has steam coming from it again. Certain days as I remember. Enjoy September...its a beautiful month, as they all are. Very good to read your posts.
I've never heard of "Running of the Meatballs." I was envisioning real meatballs rolling down a hill being chased by dogs, but that could get out of hand easily. It sounds more like a rubber duck race that a women's crisis center used to do in Hastings on the Thornapple River.
