A Dead Rose?
Ah such a fair rose I once was

am I late for being of velvety softness

besides late for the prom or the buzz

of a passing bee

and too late to be

worn upon your lapel

for an evening spell

of pricking fingers

or filling a room

with my perfect scent?

and so very late to be

within a freshly picked bouquet

from a lover sent

so call me late

for the party

but not the glory

to be one lost late bloom

so late to some event.
