yeah...i think the main thing is to NOT get caught up in the first place with all the instant & canned stuff!
kids just don't know how to have a kick ball or stick ball game in the middle of the street anymore...do they?? or play hop scotch...or jump rope. HEY, wasn't it one of your posts a week or so ago...about the kids in the play yard? mother may i??
ok...i'm getting of track here...
YES!! eat your veggies! FRESH (or even frozen)...better than canned! and they LOOK way better than canned too! and TASTE way better... :)

Looks good, except for the fresh cut green beans! Now I am hungry.

Excellent comment. We're teaching the young to expect too much way too quickly. Nothing like the satisfaction of taking the time to cook meal yourself. And if you add in growing most of it yourself too...nice!

My how times have changed, the BEST veggies come straight from the garden. I couldn't agree more that patience is learned through gardening, from start to finish and in preserving the veggies as well. The children today are missing out on so much, sad but true.

Oh dear and we had oven-ready chips this evening! Unfortunately it's not just children we need to teach about fresh vegetables.

Oooh, you've made me think with this one, Karen. So, so true: We've lost the ability - or is it perhaps the willingness - to teach our children that good things come to those who wait.

I do hope we eventually go back to a time when time is a slower, more appreciated commodity. For now, we just don't seem to get it, and you're aces for calling it out here.
