Who was that man? |
Welcome again to Jenny's "Saturday Centus" from her blog, "off on my tangent" and one of my favorite games to play.....it's back to 100 words plus 10 for the prompt, in any style writing and we can include a photo! Hooray! Our prompt for today is,
"The number you have reached is no longer in service...."
Here is my offering today:
The recording blurted, “The number you have reached is no longer in service." Rounds had been exhausting yesterday, so why did I share coffee with a stranger and go against hospital policy? Why take his number? Perhaps there were answers in the coffee shop.
“Melanie do you remember serving me coffee yesterday?”
“Yeah, why do you ask?”
“Did you notice the man I was sitting with? Maybe you knew him?”
“Man? You weren’t sitting with any man.”
“Yes I was. He wore a brown suit and you happened to knock his hat onto the floor. Don’t you remember?”
“No, you were alone and I never saw a hat.”

This is wonderful and touching...the why's and wherefore's don't need to be explained...Bravo !!!
Somebody's working too hard! This is mysteriously intriguing. Great job.

I love how you used the prompt! I want to know more about this mysterious man who may or may not exist.
Brilliant, Karen! Have you seen the new show on t.v. about a doctor whose doctor wife dies, but comes back all the time to talk with him?
Ok, Nonna must be sharing her drugs with you and not me. Either you are halucinating or you had coffee with a ghost or an angel. Hummmm:)~Ames
Ooooo! Sounds like the beginning of a Twilight zone episode! Good job!
Love it ! Am happy I stopped by.

The doctor's head is now spinning...
thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment :)
This is very intriguing. I wonder why she thought she sat with a man and if she didn't where did she get the phone number from...Inquiring minds want to know, ha!!
Definitely leaves me wanting to now more!
Good job on this one.
=)
Sorry, make that "know" more.

Maybe it is true that docs and nurses work too hard and are distracted and unbalanced at times! This is a good read.

Spooky, very well written....was she just too tired or is Melissa lying?
