The Mag 123

THE MAG

# 123

My post this week weaves into another line of thought, away from the origins of this photo.

BLIND FURY

Uncomfortable feeling of
impending disaster
road rage - pulled over.
Eyes blazing, fists clenched, jaws tight
debating fight.

Psyching each other out
within a ton of steel
no problem.
Eye to eye contact now,
not so wonderful.

Behind tinted glass,
mouthing incoherent obscenities
and counterattacks
was easy.

Who knew a sweaty, major-high-voltage enraged,
green-eyed monster would emerge?
Road rage - pulled over
dewy helplessness engaged.

Alternate choice for road rage sufferers....

You may have gone off in a different direction, but I can see how you got there. Very nice.

Karen that's an awesome photo you found, I love it. Where do you come up with your ideas for writing? You're so brilliant! I need some inspiration to get writing, I guess the degree should be inspiration enough! Tomorrow no blog, no facebook, just write!

Have a fantastic week, cheers!

hah! One time I did something stupid that p...d off another driver....instead of road rage she made an hysterically funny face at me- and we both drove off laughing....

Road rage is the pits- my hubby gets really angry at stupid drivers.

I like where you went with the prompt. Road rage has caused some serious accidents here lately.

Road rage is one of the reasons I gave up driving in the UK. People weren't driving fast enough or some such and getting beaten to death by angry idiots with baseball bats and such. What a great piece this is. You took the prompt and turned it into something very real, and very scary too. But, you're also right, we are so brave with our insults behind the wheel, face to face is a different matter that can all too quickly lead to disaster.
Love the carousel pic...nice touch ..:)

It is amazing how much road rage goes on--we need to stop and consider our fury and how stupid it looks and is.

Love the message here. Something as simple as "flipping the bird" can easily escalate into something we don't want...

Very well written - I like where the prompt took you. Don't like road rage though. I thought it only happened in this country. Guess I was wrong.

road rage...pretty scary.
PEOPLE can be pretty scary...when they get so OUTRAGED over dumb things.
i get a kick out of it when a car has to pass me when i'm going the speed limit...only to have them get stuck at the light, right in front of me!

nice job on your writing & picture(s) karen!!

Nice take on the picture of road rage ~ I think its due to unreleased pent up rage at real life ~

Wonderful description of how it feels.

I wonder why road rage is like it is. Is it like flaming on a computer? that we have a machine between us so it's easy to feel we can act like an unpleasant child and somehow it doesn't matter like it would in a real human contact.

Or is road rage because there is a real threat to our safety if people cut us up and we are responding naturally as we would to anyone who puts our life in danger?

Anyway, I liked your post!

Great evocation of the gentle horse goddess as a counter to the machine like rage of our time !

Road rage is one of the scariest phenomenons of modern time and you encapsulate it here. I like that you tun to the carousels again as an antidote. I still have that Tammaeus qute in my head.

Just had fun catching up on your blog. Been away from reading for a few days.

Road rage is becoming more and more dangerous here in Tucson since it is legal to carry a gun ANYWHERE! I think I've had enough of "going back to the past." I may just leave.
