Thematic Photographic 198 The Natural World

THEMATIC PHOTOGRAPHIC

THE NATURAL WORLD

Sometimes, when we least expect it, the natural world consumes life as we know it.  If, we stop paying attention to the things around us.

The natural world and every living thing in it carries on, whether we take time to notice it or not.

Even the rich and famous, found peace and tranquility away from all the hustle and bustle that has consumed much of our natural world.  They flocked to places like this.

This is about twenty minutes away from the bright lights of Las Vegas, Nevada.  Red Rock Canyon waits quietly away from all the ringing slot machines, with a free and limitless expanse across a quivering earth we call home.

Through the whispering fields of sand and rocky roads this endless expanse of rolling rocks is nestled minutes away from a ranch where Howard Hughes discovered peace and quiet.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park
Blue Diamond, Nevada

Before Howard Hughes bought this peaceful estate, it belonged to German actress Vera Krupp.

Just one of the views from the ranch house.

One of the park's hidden jewels is Lake Harriet.  Here a variety of ducks and the endangered Pahrump Poolfish make their home within the natural world.

What I enjoy most about the natural world, is that we determine where we call home.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
that is always calling.

"Nature is crafty, but for a good end." - Goethe
...and look at all the treasures we gather along the way.

"Nature is often hidden, sometimes overcome, seldom extinguished. Force maketh nature more violent in the return." - Francis Bacon

But, we can always make a path, and it will continue to lead us somewhere.

Do you have a favorite place in the natural world?
Then please
bring it here

Is that white stuff snow. I see the cat hiking along.

Jenny, yes it is! Aren't they lovely!

R. Mac Wheeler Yes, that's Monster along for a stroll! We barely had winter this year though...so the white stuff it was far and few between snowfalls! I always visit the Red Rock Canyon area when we go to Nevada, it's so lovely. I actually stopped by a few of the old ghost towns (ha ha) along the way out there, on this last trip!

I wonder how many illnesses would improve or heal if people were closer to nature.

Another set of photos showing wild places in a country where there is enough space to have such beautiful spots! Great photos!

My favourite place is 'here'. 'Here' is a somewhat variable location, however.

I like the Monarch. Still waiting for them to show up in numbers here in Columbus.

p.s. Pahrump Poolfish sounds like a Dr. Seuss character!

Love Red Rock Canyon - the Nevada one as much as the southern CA one near me - and I love how it shows the utterly amazing force of the earth! Great photos.

Karen I love the reminder that we need to, or I need to, connect with the great outdoors. I've been busy trying to catch up at home and haven't made the time to get out in the world...nuf of that already!

Excellent post, thank you. Have a g'day, cheers.

Beautiful pictures, Karen. It's hard to pick the best but I'd love to get a shot of a Monarch butterfly.

I think I have a BUNCH of new favorite places in the world, Karen, all thanks to you. I can't decide which of these rises to the top - as they're all so exquisite. But the rocks...shaped by millions of years of erosion. They do something to me.
