Saturday Centus - Having it All

SATURDAY CENTUS

The Big Blue Whale, Route 66, Catoosa, Oklahoma
Who said Smiling Big Blue Whales don't exist?

Anything is possible!

Saturday Centus, WAIT! THERE'S MORE! is our prompt for today, any style writing, any photos and 103 words!

Okay, our family vacation fund was depleted.  All the neighbors were gone to exciting places.  I felt so bad for our sad little crew.  Until  I found this little letter to my mother.

Dear Grandma!
You'll just never believe what I have to tell you!

Believing is Having.
Wigwam Motel on Route 66, Holbrook, Arizona.

Joey, Bobby and I wished very hard to go camping!  Okay not here.  Daddy put up a tent in the backyard and made a camp-fire too!  Then he and mommy ran around (we acted surprised) like bears outside our tent!

Then, do you remember taking us here?

Mommy made this sign so we could pretend we were in South Dakota with you and grandpa again!

Look at our new laughing cowboy, whose HAVING so much fun with us!

Wait! There's more!

I just wanted to say we're having the best summer together, hope you can come over and roast marshmallows with us too!
Love, Annie

Great pictures, love the big blue whale. One of these summer's I'm going to do a Route 66 road trip in one of my old cars. Hopefully.

That would be cool! I hope to do the same one day again too! They have areas that feel just like it was when I was growing up and my drove along Route 66!

HOw fun! and I never even thought of this twist. Your pictures take me back to childhood days of innocence, along with your writing. :) Great job!

Wait! There's more! We sold our house today, and my grandchildren will be able to come to the Georgia coast and roast marshmellows on the beach with us! They can hardly wait!!!

Great pics - saves me a heap on travel expenses, seeing the world this way.

btw - how come you get 21 wits and I only get half of one?

Nice nostalgia.

Wall, South Dakota is something to truly behold, and it was in the front parking lot of the Shell Truckstop on the east side of Holbrook where I had my 'out-of-body" experience that is mentioned in The Crackerhead Chronicles.

J Cosno Newberry - That is a very good question! Any amount of wits is wonderful though!

That whale reminds me of a smiling blue ceramic whale I made in grade school--my first sculpture! And I've actually been to Wall Drug!

This reminded me of my Gram and how she had eight grandchildren and how each one of us was able to spend a week in the summer alone with her and my gramp. I guess Gram knew what it was like to not have individual time at home with our sibs around all the time and she wanted us to feel special each summer for a month. This is a practice that I will do when I have grandchildren.

Love the pictures.

Oh, Karen that was so sweetly done...loved it ! BTW, in 1960 we drove Route 66 to visit family on the East coast and stopped at a TeePee Motel. There were Indians selling all kinds of pretty pottery and trinkets in beautiful traditional outfits. One of the highlights of the trip for me !
