SEPIA SATURDAY

YOUR LOOKS INTOXICATE US

Greetings from, the "Gridiron Women" holding frolic while men fete President at Press Club, in Washington D.C.  Courtesy of the Gridiron Football (aka) American Football League December 16, 1938.

WHILE MOST ALL THE WORLD HAS THEIR EYES FOCUSED ON SPORTS

GOOGLE EVEN HAS ARCHERY ON THEIR PHOTO TODAY!

MY SPORTS ENDS HERE.

In favor of just a few fashionable clips.

Fashion at it's best even strolling down a street in Peru.

Oh yes, only the best of high fashion,
and sensible shoes!

Or another stunning location in Cusco, Peru chasing Llamas.

If we were to reach Paris before lunch we may catch these lovely ladies.

May I present ladies gathering in Paris with the latest of fine fashions in November of 1913.

Just what in the name of fashion is happening today?

Where are they all going in their finest of fashions, and sporting the latest of combs in their hair styles or best hats?

Could they be headed to an outdoor cafe?
Are we invited too?

Smiling faces....I see smiling faces....sometimes.

Yes, today is a superb day to frolic in the summer sunshine and gather around tables at outside cafes and just enjoy yourself...... even if you are all dressed up in the latest of -

Beach fashion - like these lovely ladies at Seal Beach, in sunny California.  It's all the rage!
Bathing suit fashion parade on July 14, 1918.

We learn and live fashion through all the days of our lives.  Sometimes we're lucky enough to know who we should follow and those that we should run far away from.

Eleanor Roosevelt
a strong woman of great common sense
a wise choice to follow.
"A woman is like a tea bag: you never know how strong it is until it's in hot water."

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Please take a moment and enjoy these two videos
which conclude my post of fashion today.

Karen, what an awesome post. The first fashion one ... well, it isn't hard to look sharp next to the bagladies, lol. I'll be back to watch the videos soon.

I love Peru. Depending upon where you go, the first Peruvian picture could have been taken yesterday.

That 4th picture made me think that maybe I could just have lived with those fashions - so elegant. I enjoyed your post Karen and the quick fashion tour video was very clever.

A fine collection of images. And listening to the commentary about the opening ceremony in London, there were many comments about the fashion of all the various uniforms worn by the teams. Sport and fashion in harmony - just like your post.

Absolutely delightful! Enjoyed your pictures and your two videos. I do a bit of sewing, presently I am attempting a blouse with 2 dozen tucks in the front, 10 in the back, a couple dozen more on the two sleeves for a Victorian Tea Party I will be attending next month. With good fortune, I will finish it by then! I love fashion, but must say, I lean to around the 1920's as my favorites, I went to Vancouver Museum in April and saw a lovely collection of the 20's and 30's. Great post, send more our way.

Alan - I know what you mean, about the fashion styles this year! Our media is still raving about Spain... isn't life wonderful with a mix of designs!

That Gridiron women shot is rather shocking--especially for 1938!

That first pic (Gridiron), one of them looks unconscious on the floor... Odd!!

My fave is the people gathered around the table at Cassis Cafe. Such a mood in that picture.

It was excited to come across your site a short while ago. I arrived here today hoping to learn interesting things. I was not upset. Your well thought out ideas with new strategies on this subject matter were enlightening and a great help to me. Thank you for making time to create these things and for sharing your mind.

I'm drawn to the lady with the llamas. Not sure why. I think it's because the shoes seem not to go with that coat. They look like tennis shoes although I know they're not.

Karen, like the catwalk in Peru. I wonder if the bathing costumes from 1918 make ever a comeback? Ladies looked so elegant and it is only a "few" years since I wore a pillbox hat and gloves, shoes and handbag matched!! Now it is so comfortable in a tunic, leggings and flatties...

The first photo is hilarious, they should have stuck to ice cream like the women in the 6th photo. Great set of photos.
