The Mag - 135

Venus and The Sailor 1925 Salvador Dali

We begin inside the Venus Club

SWEET ENCOUNTER

This has always been
the sailor's battlefield.
Tonight would be as every
night before.
His slow sifting quest begins
rocking his entire being
before
he finds her.

Through the misty haze
of candlelight and smoke,
his fantasies crystallized.
She, never once longed
for the doors of love to open.

This sailor soon to depart
raked willingly through the throes
of pulsating desires.
They clung to each other
without a murmur of surrender.

Until, this one night of paradise
became
like all his other nights before
just one more passing side dish
of wild, intoxicating passions
was over.
Once morning opened
His sails unfurled- while she, was just a whisper in the wind.

Oh yes, deep inside the Venus Club, many sailors will linger in the thrill of caressing their face with the lips of Aphrodite.

kind of a cold ending...him moving on and just leaving her behind...some nice touches...like not a murmur of surrender that pave the way for that finale...nice piece...

Many a girl has become just a whisper on the wind, whilst the sails unfurled. Nice imagery Karen.

Quite a story you've told, and told well.

I'm a huge Dali fan. The painting goes well with the story. I am certain, however, he returned to marry her.

JJ I think you're right! I like your kind heart! My father was a sailor and he married his bride from over seas as well! Sailors can have happy endings, absolutely!

Great poem, I wonder what Dali would think about it.
