A Whale of a Story

One hundred and sixty-one years running.

Moby Dick

Still sailing high!

Happy 161st Anniversary of Moby-Dick today!

Sail on Moby-Dick into another many years!

"There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.”

"It is not down on any map; true places never are."

Karen I didn't realize that Moby Dick was that far back in time. This is an excellent shot of a brilliant statue, well done! Where is this fountain located?

Have a wonderful day!

Herman's mother was of Dutch ancestry (her surename was Gansevoort). His grandfather was general Peter Gansevoort, hero of the Battle of Saratoga. His family is living in the US since 1660, when the arrived in Beverwijck, present day Albany, in the colony of New Netherland.

Although noting at all like Moby Dick, my wife and her mother are looking forward to seeing "Big Miracle" when it comes in the mail from Netflix later today. If you don't remember it, it's the movie with Drew Barrymore about rescuing a whale trapped under the ice in the Arctic Ocean that came out a couple of years ago (I think).
