THE MAG
Tess Kincaid, from "The Mag" posts a photo prompt each Sunday for us to reflect and respond. Also, today I've learned that Tess is celebrating her birthday. So, Happy Birthday Tess, in honor of your special day.
THE ALL-SEEING EYE
"Walk towards the sun-
but know that I see
everything."
(A mother's promise)
(A mother's promise)
Our mother’s eyes
Like non-other
Never compromise
Always knowing
Lambent and watchful
Brilliantly clear
Her watchful-eye.
We are
Of her eyes
Or, her shrewd perception.
It was unfathomable
To think
I could ever hide
Anything from her.
She used her eyes
Like weapons.
I never knew how
Until I observed
with mother’s eyes.
By that all knowing
Lambent and watchful
Brilliance as clear
and deep
and deep
As an artesian well.
Ours is not the evil eye
Just mindful.

I love this Karen, it's so true, until I became a mother myself I never understood. I know my oldest son never go it until he watched his little girl be born, it was in that instant he also got it.
Have a wonderful week!
Oh yes - I can relate to this. And yet do not forget how rose tinted sometimes our little ones turn out to be.
Very mindful! thanks- I mother animals a lot- and yes their safety and health is paramount! Mom's eyes are deep wide and tall!
I ran out of time to do the Magpies and then travels along with summer activity took me off Sepia; but I will return. I did enjoy this about eyes, especially mother's eyes.
So true. There's no escaping a other's eyes!

Long live mothers with eyes at the back of their heads....... they've been around the block a few times! Thank you for sharing this salute, Karen. I love it!!
Alas, the look that my mom often gave me was a little too much like that of the sun. For it had a definite glare to it. Sigh.
Ah, my mother had eyes like that too, and even that one in the back of her head. Nice slant you took here!
Now that you mention , it is indeed a powerful maternal symbol ! , very perceptive , Karen . Are men that love it to rhe exclusion of all else fixated with mummy ? , mummy - money ,hmmm
So true Karen....a mother always knows! :-)
