Six Word Saturday- Can't Believe I -

Welcome to Six Word Saturday

Have you eaten yet?

What in the world
would they be doing with all this fish?

Welcome to

SIX WORD SATURDAY

Where Cate, from "Show my face" blog invites us to express something about our life or other amazing things in Six Words!

MEETING NEW WRITERS
PROMOTES WRITING HEALTH

Once upon a Wednesday evening I discovered a talented writer
teaching a

 "Writing for Children" class.
My instructor was
Rose Marie Meuwissen
It turns out she not only happily wrote, but painstakingly put together the most interesting and engaging Norwegian book ever-
 and she published it too.
As a matter of fact, I immediately bought a copy, as a Christmas present for my youngest son.  He's faithfully engaged in all things of viking and Norwegian history
since it's in his blood from his daddy's side!

Her book

REAL NORWEGIANS EAT LUTEFISK

You can find more about this author and her book at
www.realnorwegianseatlutefisk.com

What I learned from taking her short little one evening class-
1. I need to continue on this writer road of discovery
(note to self-do more of the above)
2. She belongs to writing groups- Kiss of Death and Midwest Fiction Writers - a writer after my own desires of mystery adventures.
3. We all have potentially important stuff to share-
4. Norwegian Cats do exist

A bit of an interesting story revolves around this cat!
http://www.alvdansens.se/about_the_breed.htm
and the funniest story ever- how it got inside her book!

Most of all I know-
(please don't tell Rose Marie)
5. Not all Norwegians eat Lutefisk!

The more we keep on learning the better we become!

I hope one of those Norwegian kitty-cats don't get real sneaky and steal any of my fish! :)

Interesting, Karen ~~ I think writing courses in your specialty areas are really good. Either as a refereence text or to pick up a tid-bit here and there.

I Googled ""Stick Man" book" for you to be able to read up on the book a bit.

Karen, I am not sure how the link above will do for you. You will have to go down a bit for the book. When I first got the link, the book was the top entry. I really messed up and was glad I had to tell you about the book.

The author is Julia Donaldson and in another of her books she tells about the Busker (and a cat) is titled, 'Tabby McTat.' I fixed my blog accordingly after you came. Here is a link with a revie of the Tabby McTat book.
(a Tabby McTat review).

Oh yes, I did read both books and could pass a mulitple choice test about them but sure did mess up in telling about them.
..
I really am glad you stopped by my blog. I was busy this morning preparing my SS lesson that I will lead tomorrow (and watching college football) and didn't pay much never mind to my post that I did late last night.

Karen: I would love to volunteer at a writing event for a good cause.

"The more we keep on learning the better we become!"

Keep me in mind if an occasion ever arises. Helping people better themselves is one of my core values. And I fish too.

Great post.

I would give it away to friends and make dish pate.

Karen you have the gift of writing, you have an amazing way with words and I encourage you to pursue your writing... get published and see what happens next!

What in the heck is a lutefisk? lol

Have a wonderful week!

I've never tasted (or even heard of) lutefisk, but I like the Norwegian cats (to pet, not to eat). BTW the 'l' is positioned incorrectly in the 'www.relanorwegian...' link. Being creative is very rewarding, so you should definitely continue on the writer road.

Interesting thought about writing classes and writing groups. I have yet to explore this although I taught writing (legal writing) for twenty years. I'm sure I would benefit. Especially if I ended up learning some of the things that make you such an entertaining and clever writer!

Rob- thanks so much for the FYI I changed it- and now the link should work much better!

Norwegian was an elective when I was in middle school, so I took it. It's closely related to Swedish and one set of great-grandparents immigrated to the U.S. when they were in their teens, met and married here. But anyway, at the end of the class, there was a feast. If I were Norwegian, I definitely would be in the "don't eat lutefisk" category.

Norwegians eat lutefisk -- and so do Minnesotans!

Greetings from Minneapolis,

Pearl

p.s. I love those cats...

I don't think I have ever had any lutefisk, and I would think that I would remember something like that. (Why would my wife be snickering in the next room?)

BTW-I can't find your FB link to follow...and see your photos.

Lutefish makes me glad I'm not Norwegian! :)

I like your six words :-) As a norwegian I guess I should read that book, but I promise you I do NOT eat lutefisk!

21 Wits said...

Inger-M Thanks for stopping by! I know you and a whole lot of people I know. But, I think you'd enjoy the book! :)
