Sepia Saturday - Exploring Old and Abandoned - 20 September 2014

Welcome to  Sepia Saturday

While our theme offers adorable little faces, and a most skeptical kind of housing, I'm interested in a bit more sturdy structure.

OLD MANORS and Such

Parlange Plantation Manor House
New Roads, Louisiana

this week for me with SEPIA SATURDAY

"The cities and mansions that people dream of are those in which they finally live." - Lewis Mumford

Every manor should have a unique gate for an entrance.

Of course we must take a peek inside lovely, Rockwood Manor.

Rockwood Manor is a 150 year old estate that has now within a public park facility in Wilmington, Delaware.

How about your own manor, built in 1870 and listed on the Preservation Directory?  This Incredible Gothic Revival Facade could be yours for a mere $16,500.  It's located in Oxford, NY. 8 South Washington Avenue.

This stately manor, the Arlington Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi and built by Mrs. Jane White

This manor is featured on the link provided below.  It is now decaying rapidly and sits abandoned.

It didn't look too bad until I read about the fire & all. Oh well.

Oh the first manor -- covered porches, big ol' tree with Spanish moss, and a tire swing. All that's missing is a bowl of jambalaya.

Nice twist Karen; I love the one with the dress and hat laid out. Just for me I think.

Great take on this week's challenge!

What a magnificent tree it deserves a mansion like that and someone to swing on the tyre.

I love old houses and the more decrepit the better. But as a carpenter and home renovator, I can say the scariest part is the cost and time needed to make them whole again!

Yes that first picture is wonderful. It makes me want to visit and sit on the porch relaxing and watching children playing.

If Rockwood Manor was a hotel then I wouldn't mind staying in it. And $16,500 seems like a low price, but maybe the neighborhood isn't that good.
