Black and White Wednesdays - Around the Town

Greetings!  I'm joining Adrienne's

AROUND the TOWN

Once you stray from colors, the heart and soul of a place shines, unmistakably.

Lucky for me a short 25 mile drive in any direction from my own driveway offers a delicatessen of neighborhoods waiting to be devoured.

Going southeast there's Northfield, where the Cannon River runs through it.

Driving directly east with a touch of north, I'd be in Hastings, where the Mississippi River runs through town.

But if I were to drive about 34.8 miles north I'd be at historic Prospect Park, a Minneapolis neighborhood within the university community which features the one and only famous

Witch's Hat Water Tower.

"There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer." -Ansel Adams

Did you catch the tower smiling back?

Funny thing, today was a black and white kind of day.

Oddly enough, this water tower sits high up on a hill, and even standing right next to the very base of it you'll enjoy the panoramic views of Minneapolis.

Believe it or not, this house is directly across the street from the Witch's Hat and even though it appears abandoned, it's not, a family lives there.

Looking west from the base of the Witch's Hat.

"The single most important component of a camera
is the twelve inches behind it."
Ansel Adams

Thanks for joining me in "Around the Town" post.

wonderful black and whites. I could see how that could be a fun place to grow up...or maybe they are renovating it? Still that house and the witches hat tower are wonderful.

Good blogging idea, drive approximately 25, 50 etc miles to the north, east, south and west and see where you end up. Noted down!
