Thematic Photographic - Large Structures

"We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us." - Winston Churchill

THEMATIC PHOTOGRAPHIC

Carmi, from Written Inc. blog, has been revolving in a world of BIG lately, so with all the techie-stuff brewing and switching, he's offering "Large Structures" as our theme.

Early morning hours in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota I spot one employee surrounded by "Large Structures" and will he catch my wave and send one back to me?

defining structure: the arrangement of and relations between the parts or elements of something complex."

So, of course, "Large Structures" can be found in other forms, besides big buildings.

Portobello Road Market, in the Notting Hill District of West London, on Portobello Road.
It's one of the most interestingly complex "Large structure" of a market place that I toured in a long while.  I'm not sure which was more fun, viewing all the antiques or just simply people watching.

Large can be a good thing sometimes, but my heart is still in love with the smalls in life.

Interesting view on large, I love what you've done with it!

Cheers.

Portobello Road, that must be where they grow large mushrooms, eh? :)

I was expecting to see a Frank Lloyd Wright structure when I saw his quote.

Isn't it true though that largeness is something that's awfully hard to convey in photographs. I always find it so anyway.

I sure hope she can lose the weight soon enough. (LOL?)

I must admit I prefer to admire more diminutive structures, but your selections are worth a visit.

Portobello Road, I remember a movie and a song about that place, so that's definitely a location I have to visit when (if ever) I am in London.

Beautiful shots Karen! Large structures of concrete jungles can support lots of grand ideas. Thanks for sharing! Nicely!

Love the line of different color buildings.

I've always wanted to visit the "other" London. Since my little city's architecture was modelled after its namesake, those connected shops of varying colors seem vaguely familiar. The original street is definitely nicer, though :)

The picture of the maintenance man in the middle of the downtown core breaks my heart a little. The disparate scale is stunning: you tell such great stories through your lens, Karen.

Thank you! I went with a golf course, on that very theory...

Nice pics, Karen!
