Silly is as Silly Does or Capricious and The Nude

"In this life, all is evanescent. Live for the now."
Carlyle Labuschagne

This morning.
The planting of flowers in the rain
offers the best sort of watering ever.

The Nude Painting
A woman goes to a painter and says,
"Could you paint me in the nude."
"Okay," says the painter.
"But I might have to keep my socks on otherwise
I'll have nowhere to put my brushes."

"The history of the bow and arrow
is the history of mankind."
Fred Bear

"Our night brushed aside like cobwebs.
 Our day begins wound loosely
yet one twist or bend makes all the difference.
We reach back in memory
sensing the tighter webs
of lingering memories.
Before our last fleeting dream escapes our thoughts
slipping beyond the last of the fog,
those spectral and evanescent residues,
have faded beyond our reach, loosely."

"A consistent  soul believes in destiny,
a capricious one in chance."
Benjamin Disraeli

"A person does not grow from the ground
like a vine or a tree,
one is not part of a plot of land.
Mankind has legs so it can wander."
Roman Payne

People on earth
are everywhere.

Behind every new door something begins.

Buildings always seem to speak out for themselves.
The trick is to listen.

Pull up a chair.
Sharing lunch with an old friend
the more we share the more we have.

The circle of life.

There are always two sides to every window.

Our sweet friend Cloudia always shares the most beautiful of rainbows,
which I tried doing here.  It happened to be a double rainbow.  This photo only shows part of the strongest one.

May every path that greets you be as beautiful as each of you are.
We are strong, bold and brave.

Sometimes you just have to drop anchor and be wistful.

Thanks for stopping by
take good care of you.

Catching Up

Catching up with Carmi's THEMATIC PHOTOGRAPHIC and Red as his  last week's theme
and SATURDAY'S CRITTERS.

Reset and Revive
It's what we do to catch up with things.

Somedoggy stole my seat!

"The dream was always running ahead of me.
To catch up, to live for a moment
in unison with it, that was the miracle."
Anais Nin

A wee bit of RED for Thematic Photographic

and a wee bit of doggy romance too. Notice she's in a red car.

Dash is just freshly groomed and ready to rock and roll!

"Life doesn't give us purpose
we give life purpose."
Flash

Especially for Ride your Bike to work day, downtown Minneapolis.

"Learn to pause
or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you."
Doug King

Here's looking at you Rusty!
(He still has the same bone we lost in the snow a few weeks ago!)

There she goes. I'll probably never ever see that doggy-girl-poodle again,

"Give nonsense a good head-start
with Tradition and Habit
cheering it from the sidelines,
and if you think
Reform can catch up with it inside
of two or three thousand years or more
your opinion is contrary to experience."
unknown

I fully agree with this quote by Tom Wolfe
(I'm sure he's up there somewhere, still learning, still discovering.)

"To me the great joy of writing is discovering.
Most writers are told to write about what they know,
but I still love the adventure of going out and
reporting on things I don't know about."

Yep. Sounds perfect doesn't it? Learn things. Be adventurous.
Venturesome.
Venture-a-lot!

Stop. Sit. Listen. See. Be.
"It's life that matters, nothing but life
the process of discovering,
the everlasting and perpetual process,
not the discovery itself, at all."
Fyodor Dostoyevsky

and smiles. It's all about those cute little smiles.

"The soul is healed by being with children."
Fyodor Dostoyevsky

We are mighty!

"It's a funny thing about life,
once you begin to take note of the things
you are grateful for,
you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack."
Germany Kent

Take really good care of you!

Touching Earth

Shhh! Can you hear that?
Is it a bee or a bird or the opening of tulips?

"-and forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet
and the winds long to play with your hair."
Kahlil Gibran

Are you a geese seeker or a bayou dreamer?

"Everything in everybody's life is significant.
And everybody is alert, watching for the meaning."
Tom Wolfe

When we find our very own safe places,
there's a certain remembrance
that always brings us back
and allows for us to keep track
and opens awareness for other places
as well.
Me

There's so much mindfulness in alone time.

Hello new stranger.

The earth gives us flowers,
sunshine and rain.
Oceans and lakes to sail and ground to cover-
but the Girls Scouts of America offer cookies!

My favorite thin mint girl scout!
Isn't she sweet!

I hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day gatherings!
If you look closely you'll see all the mothers put fairy gardens together!

Fairy gardening, come each new spring, it's what we ache to do.

"Each fairy breath of summer
as it blows with loveliness
inspires the blushing rose."

Such a delight!

Enjoy your earth touchings,
and maybe there's a fairy garden in your future too!
Take good care of you.

What Did You Say My Sweet Pup

Featuring an array of critters!

"The principle of true art is not to portray but to evoke."
Jerzy Kosinski

This kid loves art and his dragons so much
that this year he became a part of his art.

"Art enables us to find ourselves and
lose ourselves at the same time."
Thomas Merton

"Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
Anatole France

"An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language."
Martin Buber

These eyes, are looking at YOU!

Stay away big bad dog! You'll never catch me up here!

"When humans act with cruelty we characterize them as 'animals'
yet the only animal that displays cruelty is humanity."
Anthony Douglas Williams

Squirrel? Do I smell SQUIRREL!

"All real living is meeting."
Martin Buber

Yes, as a matter of fact, my Mommy put these silly bows in my hair!

An artist's true reward is to be enjoyed and evoke something
you quite possibly never felt or will ever feel again.

"One cannot in the nature of things
expect a little tree that has been turned into a club
to put forth leaves."
Martin Buber

Here, this is for you!

"If the path be beautiful,
let us not ask where it leads."
Anatole France

In Minnesota this year it's
May showers are bringing up blossoms one by one!

"When the owl sings, the night is silent."
Charles de Leusse

Enjoy your day, and take good care of you.

Life is Like

Life is like
a delicious meal waiting to be devoured.
One bite at a time.

Wayzata, Minnesota

"In his blue gardens men and girls came
and went like moths among the whisperings
and the champagne and the stars."
F. Scott Fitzgerald
A Minnesota boy, born in 1896 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

"Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale."
Hans Christian Anderson

A visit to this Bad Manor must wait until August but
we could journey to the haunts and avenues of F. Scott Fitzgerald in St. Paul.

"You'll understand why storms are named after people."
F. Scott Fitzgerald
But do remember,

"Storms draw something out of us that calm seas don't."
Bill Hybels
and "Vision is a picture of the future that produces passion."

Life is like a novel.
It's filled with suspense.
You have no idea what is going to happen
until you turn the page.
Sidney Seldon

"There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them."
George Orwell

Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination.
They open up windows to the world
to inspire us to explore and achieve,
and contribute to improving our quality of life.
Libraries change lives for the better.
Sidney Seldon

Libraries offer the chance of making new friends too.

Yearning for more.
Do you ever have this kind of day?
Where you're forever learning and changing
and yet sometimes,
it feels like everything stays the same,
and yet it's different.

I woof you all!
To all dog mothers here
Happy Mother's Day from your 4-legged child.
You're the best ever.
P.S. The cat agrees!

After my mother passed away we've gone as a family to this Susan G. Komen day Race for the Cure, but it's not the same any more with my daughter and family moving to Alabama.

Diane Keaton puts love into perspective.

"That's what I learned. I learned I couldn't shed light on love
other than to feel it's comings and goings
and be grateful."
Sometimes,
"This living stuff is a lot. Too much, and not enough.
Half empty and half full."

Shiver me timbers!

" Avast Ye. YARRRR!
How do pirates know that they are pirates?
They think, so they ARRRR!

"Everything was chocolate ice cream and kisses and wind."
Francesca Lia Block

Just when you thought your snowman was laughing,
turns out he was only smiling. Next best thing.

Did you know "Babies laugh three thousand times a day. Adults twenty, if we're lucky."
Diane Keaton
Think about that!

Pun of the day.

What's an English teacher's favorite cereal?
The Grapes-Nuts of Wrath

Where do used space shuttles end up?

Huntsville, Alabama

Space Shuttle Paradise?

My mother always believed Hardware Stores were paradise. If we visited a small town she'd always spot their hardware store and it'd be a must to see. Her first stop, the kitchen goods department.

This Huntsville hardware store is not
a woman's paradise, in my thoughts.

This could be a woman's paradise.

Unless, of course you had a little blue box in mind.

So what are your thoughts on what paradise is like?
Artsy? Tartsy?

"An intelligent hell would be better than a stupid paradise."
Victor Hugo

Just keep in mind no matter what, it's all good.  It just depends on what you do, or don't do that can make all the difference in the world. Enjoy your weekend that is soon approaching.

Thanks for stopping by to say hello I truly enjoy your visits.
Take good care of YOU!

Meanwhile, back to art class.
