Our April Theme is Symmetry for City Daily Photo

Welcome to my City Daily Photo for today and posting to our April Theme of Symmetry.

Symmetry

It's what we see at a glance.

Sometimes nature made other times by man.

Symmetry: The quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis. Correct or pleasing proportion of the parts of a thing. Similarity or exact correspondence between different things.

"Beauty is rather a light that plays over the symmetry of things than that symmetry itself."

Plotinus

Why does it seem nature embodies so much symmetry?

Simply, most objects in nature are symmetrical like flower petals, crystal patterns of a snowflake, or a hexagonal honeycomb.

"In harmony there is nothing strange. And life is a vast harmony. I've understood this. But you see the molded whimsy of a frieze on a portico keeps us from recognizing sometimes, the symmetry of the whole."

Vladimir Nabokov

"There are patterns which emerge in one's life, circling and returning anew, an endless variation of a theme."

Jacqueline Carey

and a close up below.

"The smallest of actions is always better than the noblest of intentions."
Robin Sharma

Break the silence beat the drums.

Seeing all life in perfect symmetry lost within a tree.

"Don't confuse symmetry with balance."
Tom Robbins

Meet Bullseye the Target Dog.

"Why do we delight in seeing perfectly round blubs of many colors all dressed in glitter and never seem to have quite enough of them hanging around?"

"Take the stones people throw at you and use them to build a monument."

Robin Sharma

and

"Give out what you most want to come back."

Thank you for stopping in.

Take good care of you.

Northfield Haunts

Out and about the city streets of Northfield, Minnesota. I'm posting for City Daily Photo.

Northfield sits along the banks of the Cannon River and was founded by immigrants from New England and what makes this city special is its diversity. It's art and history culture, city life, rural life, small town charm and offers two colleges all in one town of about 20 thousand people.

Later in the week I'll offer a post from their art gallery in The Art Guild.

Moving forward is necessary yet sideways momentum is key. I just devoured a yummy, gooey cinnamon roll and I'm grateful. I don't have any idea what the future holds but I am alive, eating, wandering out and about and hungerly looking for new things to awe about.

Karen Sather

"There is no other reality than present reality, so that, even if one were to live for endless ages, to live for the future would be to miss the point everlastingly."
Alan Watts

Take it all in. Soak it up.

On the topic of Conscious observers.

The Bearded Mermaid. Wait, what?

"Sometimes it is the quiet observer who sees the most."
Kathryn L. Nelson

"What you search is not necessarily the same as what you find. When you let go of the searching you start finding."
Hermann Hesse

Like Pride says in N.C.I.S. New Orleans "Learn things!"

"Sitting there in the coffee house, I saw so many stories behind the lips of people who had left them untold."

Lidia Longorio

Tell your stories. Repeat daily.

"There is no reality except the one contained within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images outside of them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself."
Hermann Hesse

Stop thinking, start feeling things.

Are you looking for the next distraction or, interaction?

Back in my school days there were so many distractions. Even today really. Everything gets attention. You know this feeling when you used to search a word in the dictionary. One word leads to another and on and on.

"Let us be more than our opinions."
repeat that.
Lidia Longorio

Skinner Memorial Chapel built in 1916
Located on the Carleton College Campus

"What's on your mind? I don't know. Nothing but everything at once."

Lidia Longorio

Sometimes,

"The best adventures are embarked on alone."

Lidia Longorio

"Always have a childlike wonder in your heart

even as your view of the world changes."

Lidia Longorio

"Be yourself, but don't remain the same because you deserve growth."

Lidia Longorio

May joy and happiness follow you everywhere you go.

Take good care of you

and please do come back.

The Keeper of Joy with Critters

 Welcome to

 SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

and City Daily Photo

Here in Minnesota the seasons aren't cooperating with 19 degrees and strong, blustering winds and a high of only 30 degrees even the Ground Hog got it wrong.  Regardless, I'm beginning some spring cleaning and first on my list, is updating photos from around Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs with their current conditions. Snow or no snow, what's happening now.  Next, my outdoor scarecrow collection is mostly tattered and bewildered and require more than a change of outfits.  I hope spring has sprung in your world.

On to my critter call for today.

Say hello to two of my Grand-pups that belong to my oldest son and family and while they enjoy a spring break away the pups will stay with me.

Emme

When life feels out of sorts be thankful you have critter friends.

I'm excited to revisit Cannon Falls to catch the graceful Trumpeter Swans that gather and glide peacefully with ducks and turtles.

Life is Better at the Beach- trust me on this.

"A woman's life has so many demands because she is the axis around which so many little planets spin."
Mary Alice Monroe
from The Beach House

Also, from Hot Sam's Antiques.

"Do stuff, be clenched, curious. Not waiting for inspiration's shove or society's kiss on your forehead. Pay attention. Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager, stay eager."

Susan Sontag

Always a delight are visiting those statues that call you to attention.

"Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable."

Mary Oliver

Why I Wander About

Things. Stuff. Art.

"Ten times a day something happens to me like this

some strengthening throb of amazement

some good sweet empathic ping and swell.

This is the first, wildest and the wisest thing I know:

that the soul exists

and is built entirely out of attentiveness."

Mary Oliver

Be adventurous.

"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

Mary Oliver

And at the end of the day after the process of a day spent of wandering about

what do you remember most?

May joy be alive throughout you day and

Take good care of you.

Are People Like Cities

By now most of you know I'm a huge quote fan, along with my sister blogger, Cloudia, at Comfort Spiral great minds think alike, right? My post today is about a topic that inspires me, referring to people being like cities. I'm posting to City Daily Photo.

"So, we must conclude that madness is sometimes a question of time, and sometimes of postcode." Matt Haig

"Anyone who says that only sunshine brings happiness, has never danced in the rain."

Are People Like Cities?

"It's amazing how well you can get to know a person if you actually pay attention. People are like cities: We all have alleys and gardens and secret rooftops and places where daisies sprout between the sidewalk cracks, but most of the time all we let each other see is a postcard glimpse of a floodlit statue or a skyline."

Wild Awake quote by Hilary T. Smith

"A person was like a city. You couldn't let a few less desirable parts put you off the whole. There may be bits you don't like, a few dodgy side streets and suburbs, but the good stuff makes it worthwhile."

Matt Haig, The Midnight Library

"Spring has sprung. So, here's my question. When will your outside cafe be open?

"As I pedal down the street, the city blocks peel away like pages in a book I'm rifling through to find a single, highlighted sentence."

 Hilary T. Smith

Sometimes, no I'm betting most moments of your day, should be spent like this.

"We just have to close our eyes and savor the taste of the drink in front of us and listen to the song as it plays. We are as completely and utterly alive as we are in any other life and have access to the same emotional spectrum."

Matt Haig

"Not just another rainy day. Don't just look around you but look deep within."

"It was interesting, she mused to herself, how life sometimes simply gave you a whole new perspective by waiting around long enough for you to see it."

Matt Haig

Thanks for visiting today and may happiness and joy follow you.

Experience. Stuff. Enjoy life like a box of delicious chocolates.

 Trying them, one by one.

"Be humble because you are made of earth. Be noble, for you are made of stars."

Serbian proverb

Unwind Let the Dust Settle

Today I'm taking time to unwind and let winter's dust settle as I know spring prepares to arrive!  I'm posting to City Daily Photo.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

"Whether I drink often or just once in a while; I'm always sure to raise a glass to the dear old Emerald Isle." Pat Maloney

Good luck finding a four-leaf clover little Lyra, or is that really a little Leprechaun?

Do you know what are your odds are of finding a four-leaf clover?
Apparently, your chances are one in 10,000.

So, in other words, if you do find your four-leaf clover
it means you have entirely too much time on your hands.

Meet Finn and please welcome him as his grand finale day has arrived and like many of us we will also be celebrating St. Patrick's Day with him and all-around town.

Yes that's Finn hanging from my window, I believe I heard him say,

"May your blessings out number the shamrocks that grow. And may trouble avoid you wherever you go." Irish Blessing

Yes please, may all the snow melt away.

If you're lucky while you are standing outside window shopping you might catch sight of a Leprechaun running by. Do keep your eyes open.

"St. Patrick's Day is an enchanted time, a day to begin transforming winter's dreams into summer's magic." -Adrienne Cook

"May your pockets be heavy, and your heart be light.
May good luck pursue you each morning and night." Irish Blessing

Reach for the sky, it's not as high as it seems. Just follow your heart go as far as your dreams.
Brooke Allison

Remember this,
The best luck of all is the luck you make for yourself.

Cookie anyone?

"What time do the shenanigans begin?"

"When Irish eyes are smiling. Sure,'tis like a morning Spring in the lilt of Irish laughter. You can hear the angels sing. When Irish hearts are happy. All the world seems bright and gay. What when Irish eyes are smiling."

Thank you for stopping in!

"May you have all the happiness and luck that life can hold-and at the end of your rainbows ay you find a pot of gold." Irish Blessing
