A Tale of Women

Imagine the combining of two super blog memes in one?

I'm joining with Alan and Tess and all their
followers with a bit of artsy cheer!

Welcome to

AND

WOMEN WE HAVE LOVED
and LEARNED FROM

From all the women
before us
way back in the day
long, long before now.

They say
WE WOMEN

all have
eyes in the back
of our heads
All the better to see you with.

We also
carry upon our back
our very own
painter's palette

All the more to adore you with

painting by Cesar Santos

Women are strong

determined, devoted and articulately driven.

We women
will share our heart and souls
barefooted or not.
All the better to care for those loved
by women
yesterday, today and tomorrow.

We women
live by our art
and work our fingers to the bone
feeding our hunger
or creativeness.

A women's art studio by day
is where she lives
by evening end.
It's where she plays
and lives wholeheartedly.

Whatever you do, be different.
Just be yourself, there is no one better.

Nature and Critter Superpowers

Happy Sunday morning to all.
I hope you enjoy my postings for

SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

AND SUNDAY SELECTIONS

Being an optimist is not only fun and courageous, it's powerful.
Especially living in Minnesota. (and nearly every other place on earth this winter season.)

Yes, we all take advantage of outings when the weather warms up.
(Remember click on the photo to enlarge.)
Too much snow for you?
Well then, "Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
with tangerine trees and marmalade skies.  from Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds"

Some bunny loves you!

But for the moment, the snow has pretty much disappeared.
"Creativity is intelligence having fun."
Albert Einstein

Who said toy pups aren't playful?

Bark! Bark!

Yes, Winter is definitely on the fritz.

How about these photos I took yesterday along the Mississippi River?

Pretty right?

I saw bikers ready to ride the Big River Regional Trail, and there
were many walking it with their beloved dogs, or sweetheart.

Hard pressed to find any snow, but there were Eagles flying overhead, and what is that up in the sky, a bird or -

a plane! A bit blown up version so you can see it too.

Speaking of bunnies

If you look closely you'll notice they are popping
or is hopping up everywhere you go these days.

So many pretty flowers too.

Munch, munch, munch!

Of course, while winter is on the fritz and yesterday our temperatures were in the 50's, not so many birds have returned thankfully, as winter is still prepared to offer a few more wintry blasts before spring officially arrives.

So, if it's feathered friends you wish to meet,
head-on-over to the local pet shop.

Again blowing up the shot

Hmm, is that a ghost bird  sitting next to you, or?

Last, here's a glimpse into what we can expect in the next few weeks.

Raise them, bake them, build them,
feed them, decorate them, and eat them all up!
A true story, coming soon to your house.

Everybody loves snowmen, it's true.

Where there is art, there is love.

Floating with a purpose these-
Sticks and stones, and ice and snow, but creeks will
always brighten your day. No matter what.

Ah, pretty little butterfly, we miss you so.

Well perhaps, not all in this order,
but that's life, and especially here in Minnesota
this year anyway.

Spend every single day you've been given
with meaning.
Take good care of you, thanks for stopping by.

Tubing Anyone a Good Fence report

Did you say Tubing?

Welcome to

and winter fun!

"Well, I know now. I know a little more
how much a simple thing like a snowfall can mean to a person."
Sylvia Plath

Click here to Experience the ride tubing here.
You'll be happy you did.

Bring your friends. The more the merrier!

Full Hunger Moon

I've been dreaming about moons, and nature without ice or snow, and watching dripping icicles, yet fearing the return of frozen tundra temperatures.  Still wishing for spring and sunshine.

Well, a girl can dream right?

The Full Hunger Moon is when game is scarce and predators are particularly hungry.  AKA - Little Famine Moon and Bony Moon and Full Snow Moon.

So speaking of moons, do you think the moon is ever full at Half Moon Bay?

Okay, many of you may wonder where is Half Moon Bay?

Photo taken May 2013

Ah, the beach at
in San Mateo County

Listen to Dream a little dream with me here.

I miss trips to the beach, any beach-

and watching ducks at Lake Harriet.

I miss driving downtown with clouds overhead and the green, green grass growing around every curve.

What is it about open water and melting blue hues
overhead where sunshine brightens the land?

If it's crashing waves,

and honking birds with white sand between your toes, pack a lunch and bring the camera and leave the city noise behind.  I won't find it around here.

Of course California and a visit to Half Moon Bay, a short, lovely scenic 25 minute drive from San Francisco, could be the answer.

Tourist stops?  There are many.
- and quiet, if that's what you're looking for.

Oh, and did I mention Dinosaur sculptures?

Yes, apparently they still do roam the earth and not just

in South Dakota either.

Did someone mention Lighthouses?  Of course, the one pictured below and closest to me now is

Photo take before this winter!

The Split Rock Lighthouse on the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota.

Far too wintry for now.

But, Half Moon Bay, California is the better choice if you're near,
and one idea if you're craving a night on the ocean, with access to lighthouse views, and throw in a hostel for an excellent night's sleep?

Well then why not go to

Point Montara Lighthouse, (founded in 1875 as a fog signaling station) on California's Pacific coast near Half Moon Bay.
I soon discovered why this reminded me of the east coast.
The sweet little lighthouse actually came from Cape Cod, Massachusetts and went back into service right there in Half Moon Bay in 1928 or 1929.

I'm very curious about how it got there, as speculation still abounds about exactly how or why it arrived in California. Another mystery to unravel so it seems.

"It is the absence of facts that frightens people:
the gap you open,
into which they pour their fears,
fantasies, desires."
Hillary Mantel

Worry not- just believe

Adventure is worthwhile-
if just for remembering them on those wintry mornings.

Where will my next adventure be?  Alabama of course, and New Orleans,  and Savannah, these places really wake up my soul.

Enjoy your day, thanks so much for stopping by!

Critters abound

Good morning and welcome to

I love hanging out with my human Mom!

I seldom post about our cat, Kitty and yet she's making another brief appearance this week as well.  Lucky for her that she was such a super-hero-kitty last week, because this week-
she's pretty much driving us all a bit bananas!

Apparently for her, it's mating season again. Go figure, the weather warms up and so does she.  As you'll notice in the next photo, she's everywhere we are. Yep, she just climbed across my keyboard!

Rub, rub, rub, rub, RUB!

OOps.

only uninterested people."

"Cats are connoisseurs of comfort."

James Herriot

Just saw this adorable idea on Facebook this morning.

You know it's gonna be hard to eat even one of them.

So while some/114.4 million (or darn close) viewers just in the United States
were watching the Super Bowl this year,

Some adventurous, free-spirited souls went fishing instead.

"Traditional angling is to escape the noise and one-
upmanship of modern angling in favor
of something simple and beautiful."
Fennel Hudson

Okay, a quick hello from our blind pup Allie. It just goes to show even though she's been blind (almost her entire life) it rarely shows.  We love you Allie.

She may not see, but thoughts always circle, through her head.

Won't you smile along with me too?!
