Cannot Never Could and Critters

Can't Never Could
a southern saying
If you think you can't, you won't.
If you think you can, you will.

Good morning, I hope you all survived your Thanksgiving celebrations and that we still have live Turkeys roaming our beautiful earth somewhere. Seriously though they say 46 million turkeys are eaten on Thanksgiving, 22 million on Christmas, and 19 million on Easter. In 2011, 736 millions pounds of turkey were consumed in the United States. Interestingly, since 1970 turkey production in the United States increased nearly 110%.

Thankful that the ice hasn't frozen our lakes yet!

In every man's heart there is anchored a little schooner.
Henry Miller

Although, there still are many Turkeys still on the fence about this holiday, known as Thanksgiving.

The superior Turkey understands what is right and delicious for all.

Here's an interesting fact you may have missed, the turkey was domesticated in Mexico and brought to Europe in the 16th century. Also turkeys lived almost ten million years ago. All facts from University of Illinois Extension.

I've seen a look in dogs' eyes, a quickly vanishing look of amazed contempt, and I am convinced that basically dogs think humans are nuts. John Steinbeck

Oddly enough, Scarecrows have always brightened my world.

Especially Elf footprints.

Real silence, is silence without words, silence that speaks words in silence and silence that talks better than words.

If cats could talk, they wouldn't. But dogs would pour out their life stories and then ask you to play fetch.

Before the icy waters arrive.

Be careful.
Because they'll be taking to the fields soon enough.

They get better.

Happy World Kindness Day and This and That Stuff

Happy World Kindness Day to everyone, everywhere. Also, taking special note to say how sad it was to learn about Stan Lee passing. Even for those that don't know him by name or face, they will forever still marvel over the many endless gifts and memories he will forever offer us.

"America is made of different races and different religions, but we're all co-travelers on the spaceship Earth and must respect and help each other along the way." Stan Lee

Never forget the words of wisdom E.T. bestowed.

Never forget where you came from.
Call home, often. I won't let anyone hurt you.

"But still, Ayumi said, "it seems to me that this world has a serious shortage of both logic and kindness." "You may be right," Aomame said, "But it's too late to trade it in for another one."

Horse logic?

If you get the chance to share a conversation with a horse (or any critter for that matter) do it.

This, is the kind of person I want to be.

On the importance of including everyone. Even ladies or other characters made from plastic bags.

"I have always included minority characters in my stories, often as heroes."
Stan Lee

"I think I've never stopped feeling like a kid."
Stan Lee

Be interested in everything that you do.
Always.
Without fail.

Photo after Lyra's performance in this year's play. Bravo to all, and especially the generous hours of costume making.

Yard decorations and their importance. "The pleasure of reading a story and wondering what will come next for the hero is  pleasure that has lasted for centuries and, I think, will always be with us."
Stan Lee

Yep, this beauty was taken near my own house.

"The trouble with superheroes is what to do between phone booths.

Telephone booths. They're important. Not just for making telephone calls either.

Kindness is the most valuable gift you can give anyone.

Do things for others. Sweep them away with your kindness. Always.

Again this year we celebrated Patriotic Day. I was inspired with the fresh falling flakes that arrived just for this special evening.
"To survive in peace and harmony, united and strong, we must have one people, one nation one flag."
Pauline Hanson

But also to honor and respect others, their nations and their flags as well. After all we are One People.

The this and that's of our days here on earth are made up of collecting memories and rocks,

and sharing in our duty and privilege of voting our voice.

I hope you all did too!

Of course it goes without saying our this and that always include honoring birthdays of those we love.

I'm sure most of you saw this on Facebook. Incredibly smart post. It really got me thinking and apparently this event got many other folks curious.

Actually for us we moved clocks backward one hour. Okay laugh if you will however my grand-daughter asked me "Just how does the world move by turning back our clocks?"

Everywhere you go leave a wave of kindness.

Still in closing, I believe this speaks volumes to our #WorldKindnessDay.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart for stopping in, I know life gets a bit busy for us all, and my posts have been fewer, but just know that you are all in my thoughts every single day. Take good care of you.

Alter Your Course Often and Critters of the Night

SATURDAY'S CRITTERS

and other things that go boo in the night!

"If you want to change a whole people,
then start with the girls.
It stands to reason: they learn faster,
and they pass on what they learn to their children."
Terry Pratchett

"Stories of imagination
tend to upset those without one."
Terry Pratchett

Some of our best friends never say a word to us.
Said those that own a dog or kitty cat.

"Whoever said that diamonds are a girl's best friend,
never owned a dog."

Children don't ever remember their best day of television.
Not that I'm a fan of deer hunting, or really any other critter for that matter. But that doesn't mean I can't be proud of those (I know and love) that do hunt, like Jack, who is extremely proud of shooting his first deer for this year. It's his third year of hunting and third deer to bring home. It also stands to reason why I cut out the poor sad mother deer out of this picture. To me, it's like killing Bambi.

"The old man used to say that the best part of hunting
and fishing was the thinking about going and the
talking about it after you got back."
Robert Ruark
and always remember-
"You might as well learn that a man
who catches fish or shoots game
has got to make it fit to eat before he sleeps.
R.R.

Now on the brighter side of life,

"Sometimes you don't need words to feel better,
you just need the nearest of your dog,
 or even other people's dogs."

Just imagine how wonderful the world would be
if people had hearts like dogs.

"Live every moment as not to regret what you are about to do."
Mickey

It's kind of fun to do the impossible.
Walt Disney

There are so many reasons to smile.

and even more reasons to make pumpkin pie.
When we're faced with so many leftover pumpkins
with no place to go now that Halloween is over.

It's time for pie!

Any impossible feats you'd like to accomplish?

First, don't let anyone tell you it's impossible.
Tell them I'm possible,
and begin.

Yesterday in Stillwater, Minnesota I was reminded again of the small town charm it always bears on every visit.

Outside the Lowell Inn.

Sometimes it takes each of us to make a difference for all of us.
Jackie Mutcheson

It's amazing how one person's act of kindness
can change the course of your life.
(and rescue you at the same time)
and in turn you pass kindness on to another.

Do I smell chocolate?

"There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people,
religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin."
Linus Van Pelt
from Charlie Brown's Gang
But chocolate is a sweet topic for discussion, eating and sharing.

I would like to take you if I may on a silly, strange little Halloween tour, where spiders rule and Scarecrows scare!

"Bring forth the raisins and the nuts
Tonight All-Hallows'
Spectre struts
along the moonlit way."
John Kendrick Bangs

and

"Today whatever may annoy
The word for me is joy.
Just simple.
JOY."
John Kendrick Bangs

Thanks for stopping in
take good care of you.
