You may already know this place, and when you hear Duluth, Minnesota you may think of it. This is Spilt Rock Lighthouse just off Highway 61, northeast of Duluth.
Can you journey just 38 miles away from here? To the shore of Lake Superior, near Leif Erikson Park (Rose Garden) and a spot nestled quietly among College of St. Scholastica and University of Minnesota-Duluth? That's where my "K" destination begins.

I love that lighthouse picture, and had to laugh at the school marm too.
I have no idea what Minnesota is like (other than pretty cold in the winter), but that cliff with the lighthouse is beautiful. And that museum sounds like a gem. I couldn't help but wonder why some of that stuff isn't in the Smithsonian. I'm wondering how they were able to obtain it all. Sounds like a fun place.

This museum sound like quite a treasure. I went to see what the Olive Branch petition was - I wonder how many people know that little piece of your history??
I do love the idea of a manuscript museum and in this day and age it is something that is perfectly suited to digital technology.

Interesting... I need to spend time in Duluth. I've driven through it a few times, but have never stopped there. There is a nice trail that runs north of there, along the lakeshore in MN, that's supposed to be wonderful.
The lighthouse on the cliff looks amazing.

Yes, yes, yes! We spent an anniversary in that area and loved Duluth. We played golf in Two Harbors, and I remember skipping flat rocks across Lake Superior like a couple of kids. Who knew I would ever meet another crazy person who would go out of her way to find a lighthouse! Great memories.

King, that really means something cuz you live closer to some really awesome lighthouses yourself! It truly is a beautiful spot....lots of stuff out there too!
Sage, You'd love it here! We've even camped in several of the many sites out here, even those you have to walk in to get to...and we've done the condo thing too...that's just it, there are so many various walks of life out here...I took my mother and kids there for a weekend once (my Mom talked about that trip forever) a place to rediscover so many things....although Lake Superior can get really wild!
