"If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you: I am here to live out loud."- Emile Zola
From - 1937 Film Version "The Life of Emile Zola"
He was an influential French novelist.

Apparently as rumor has it, Emile Zola was also a behind the scenes photographer in his day.

Just look at everything and anything, as though you were seeing it either for the first or last time.

There they sit, two photographers with their trusty hand-held cameras safely in their hands while being perched ever so dangerously on a roof.
I know you are surely beginning to wonder where I'm taking our theme this week? Out on the edge so to speak. My time for blogging much too short.
Not to mention how incredible Emile Zola's quotes have been. Perhaps you'll agree how fitting his quotes are even today, as you read more of his quotes along the way.
Photographer taking picture of a group with donkey on a crowded beach in Atlantic City N. J. The card in the lady's hand reads, "I could stay in Atlantic City forever."
Sometimes, you just never know what some folks take to the beach. But just so you know, there's always a photographer somewhere ready to capture anything.

It seems wandering through studios belonging to photographers can be rather eye opening into their, subject.

Such an odd pose and expression for a cartoonist, wouldn't you say?

"There are two men inside the artist, the poet and the craftsman. One is born a poet. One becomes a craftsman."

Photographers, by trade or hobby they all have one main thing in common.
The joy of picture taking.

Aloha
I like that last quote, "The past a cemetery of our illusions..." Nice work.
"... live out loud" -- I like that, but I'm pretty sure my life is but a whisper.
Interesting take on the theme. Zola was a favourite Author must reread. Thanks for the Memory Jogger.
Hi Karen, I need to find out more about this guy. Great quotes and a wonderful selection of pictures today. Those guys on the rooftop are just about giving me a heart attack.
Hugs,
Kathy M.
I just bought my new camera today and when I see these model, I am happy with what I selected. Technology changes rapidly.
Greetings,
Filip
Love the quotes and the photos
The photo of two photographers shooting each other made me think of something like a love triangle. There is obviously a third photographer somewhere nearby.
Emile Zola's novel Germinal really moved me, so I'd be very keen to see some of his photographs. His quotes seem rather more flippant than prescient.
A great selection of old images and sandwiched between them are quotes from one of my very favourite authors. I re-read Zola every ten or so years, his books never disappoint.
Im ashamed to say I've never read Zola, although I did see a TV dramatisation of Nana which has stayed in my memory. A wonderful collection of quotes and cameramen.
enjoy your posts it is very interesting to read thank you
nice collection
One line in your post - "Just look at everything and anything, as though you were seeing it either for the first or last time." - reminded me that every photograph is just a snap shot in time.
Super match between Zola quotes a photographs, Karen.
All Hail The Magnificent Mr Z!And Zola was good Too!!!:) Great Post&Photos Karen.
Zola seemed in touch with his work. Wonderful quotes. Very interesting photos you put together; nice take of the prompt. I love the shots of the cartoonists.
I've read Zola and saw the bio-pic about him. Such an interesting man. But I never knew he was a photographer.
What a talent.
Great post.
Nancy
