"A bone to the dog is not charity. Charity is the bone shared with the dog, when you are just as hungry as the dog." - Jack London
Jack London and Rollo
Rollo, a medium-sized mix-breed, was Jack London's playful childhood companion and taught him that dogs feel, instinct, sensation and emotion and are capable of simple reasoning.
My Sepia Saturday today is actually about dogs that don't bite. Although our theme photo announces the medical science, regarding dogs that do bite, and explains one of our greatest discoveries of all time.
"Don't let the same dog bite you twice." - Chuck Berry
Bring on the dogs please!
Really? Seriously, and this is teaching me what again?
Now this is more like it. But please, don't squeeze me so hard okay?
There, that's better. Sniff, sniff, cats? Sniff, sniff.... do I smell a cat?
Your dinner is served sir!
Me, afraid of dogs? Never.
Yes, as a matter of fact dogs are my best friends in my life.
Rest your weary body
and nap, while we guard the premises.

Never forget, there are all kinds of things one must be aware of like,
Influenza! For one.
That's why we get vaccinations in our care of handling things.
Sometimes, they really do hurt, but they protect us in the long run.
Also, why certain signs are posted and the importance of following those instructions for our protection.
...and so, we must give thanks also to
Little Nell for posting this theme photo
On this day, July 6th, 1885 Louis Pasteur successfully treated a boy with rabies vaccine. This plaque in Arbois is one side of a pillar dedicated to Pasteur and his achievements.

Great photos
Woof, woof. The 2nd and 3rd images seem to be missing. But the rest fit the theme just fine.
I love how you mostly gave this post to the dogs, Karen. Great pictures! The signs warning of staying away and tying things into vaccines are awesome too.
Fun to visit you, as always.

I wanna be hugged by Janet Leigh too. Oh well, maybe in a next life.
I remember lining up in the school gymnasium to get our polio vaccine - on a sugar cube. Much nicer than those shots!
That reminds me of:
- Does your dog bite?
- No.
Crunch
- I thought you said your dog doesn't bite!
- He's not my dog.
I just had to snuggle with Molly, Gracie and Lucy.
Delightful! (Although, our pups do bite--sometimes with great enthusiasm! Sigh.)
Hawaii has our history of sending lepers to Molokai where Saints Damien and Marianne Cope cared for them.
Yes, all dogs are angels.
Fine post, pal:-)
Aloha
A barking good post!
Love all the friendly dogs - clever link.
Dogs like cats are loyal and unconditional...
Love your collection of dog photos. The guard-the-premises while watching Tv cracked me up.

Oh unhappy memories, lining up to get TB shots at school. The damn thing went nasty and we were al going round with protective cages on or arms. Still I never got TB. Loved all the dog pics.
Oh, joy! Dogs doin' dog stuff. Can't beat a dog doin' what it likes. I always love to see a group of them running around exploring a neighborhood, sniffing everything, including each other. As long as they're a civil group and not getting onto the roads. There's just something so grand about a dog.

Nice tribute to dogs and vaccines. And Kathy's comment -- I had forgotten all about getting the polio vaccine on a sugar cube.
Who said "It's a dog's life"? They were right - as a dog love I found this great. But approach with caution if you've not seen them before.
I'll spare you the obvious joke you provoked in your comment about Janet's photo.
I like Lilibeth's picture!!
Thanks for not spitting!!
That is the one body fluid that repulses me, and I work in an hospital...
Nasty habit!!!
:D~
HUGZ
What a fun post. I love all the b&w dog photos - especially the german shepherd being served his dinner at the table.
