The Mag

"If you remove these lines in the painting, the colors are no longer effective." - Henri Rousseau

THE MAG

The Sleeping Gypsy 1897 by Henri Rousseau

DESERT TANGO

Sleeping on the edge of dreams
riding fumes of fantasy
woven freely in a sea of
dusty sheets,
she dozes.

As this cagey, lazy lion
trails waves of harpy eagles
 and howler monkeys
over desert floors
shining like a pearly cloud
of departed spirits
 he continues,
lying and bragging
 infused in restless curiosity
as she sleeps.

Thank you Tess Kincaid, for another tasty magpie tale.

...you brought a desert plain alive with those words. Nicely done!
