The Mag - 8 June 2014

Image posted by Tess Kincaid for Magpie Tales today.

"We are put on this earth to have a good time.  This makes other people feel good.  And the cycle continues." - Wolfman Jack

So it goes for me as well,
this thing of making happy, happen.

The Wolf Sings

I too, trained for radio
back in my day
of play
on our own flat boxed tape-recorder for endless play.

Round and round
the tape swirled
like coco turning
round and round.
Frothing
with sound
capturing voices we swore weren't ours.

Oh I remember it well
that wispy, biting sound as the tape spits out its end.
My fantasy
to record and play
began
by audio on my patio
mesmerized by that one scratchy
of
Wolfman Jack
and his one man rodeo.
Respectable Renegade.
The Emperor of Pleasing Graciousness.
Oh yes, the wolf could claim
but not I.
For I was like five
twice
ignoring
Mommy's plea
he's a quack!

45s collector was I
spinning my tunes
spilling stories
of my own words
jazzing it up
splurging stories
by
 inserting lyrics
from 45s
here and there.

How unoriginal that soon became.
The story of my life
always another day late
and none the wiser.

Never mind original - stick with unique - we can all lay claim to that...!

I love old tape decks! I have two of them in my room (although I haven't used them in years).

"The story of my life, always another day late, and none the wiser" that's a bit sad / dark.

Oh my, I would love to hear you howl, and this is a completely innocent thought--I swear!

Nice, Wolfman Jack brought back memories. The radio seems so archaic to my daughter and that makes me sad...

I remember Wolfman Jack too! Haven't thought about that in years though, thanks. I'm sorry your memory ended on a down note though.
