Strange Foods We Eat

Now, after seeing our theme of strange foods we eat  and my lunch experience yesterday with first graders I wish I'd taken a shot of their hot food choice of Chicken circles at school! Needless to say, I chose the chef salad. Wisest choice ever.

If it looks like a chicken, it's chicken.  If it looks like something else?

Also, on the subject of strange foods we eat-
could be, strange dinner companions.

Strange foods we eat are often, just foods unfamiliar to us.

Kale not so strange, unless you're 5 years old.

"Are you sure, we're we can eat this? It doesn't look like salad."

Salad is the word for all green lettuce in their little world!

Kale, for those unfamiliar to it has a sweet mellow cabbage flavor.
(If I serve it to little ones, it's best to chop it up into small bites, it's really tough chewing!)

Who's that peeking over my dish of curly kale?

I like all sorts of vegetables, but I was never a fan of kale. I will leave it for Mr. Gnome!

Great photos of Kale. Too bad I'm the only one in the family who likes it, we would have it more often!

I don't think I have ever ate any kale, and I've got 52 years on most five year-olds. By the way, I have done something to upset you?

The kale looks beautiful and I love how your gnome often makes a guest appearance. I've never cooked with kale but know I should -- it's loaded with nutrients!

Not keen on kale unless its the black variety - Cabalo Nero - I can understand 5-year old's being doubtful!

mmm kale, in Dutch we call this boerenkool; a mash pot with kale, potatoes and smoked sausage. Very delicious (especially when made by my late mother).
