Fashion Construction

In honor of cutest Saturday's Critters, and Fashion Construction, the stage is set for

and simply pumping water.

I offer Fashion Construction

Why clothes fashion?  To maintain some order of sanity.  Some of you may have missed my mention of RoaD COnstRUCTION on my street, which is an extremely long and winding county road.  All this exciting road turmoil began on September 2, 2014 and ending (hopefully) November 2015.

Let the Fashion Construction Begin.

Short of money for stockings?  No problem, just get someone to draw a black line down your bare leg, to suggest the appearance of a stocking seam.

This simply put, was all the rage in the mid 1800's. It was in 1850 that the collapsible spring steel hoop crinoline was invented, in varied shapes and sizes. They did collapse rather ingeniously when a woman sat down too.

Just be careful ladies it could all go up in flames if you draw near a fire.

Off to the beach we go.

Bathing suit fashion from 1915 to 1946. It's true, those lucky police officers were armed with rulers just making sure things weren't too high above the knee.

Thanks for stopping by, and to finish off with a cute little critter of ours-

Meet Oliver.
Doesn't his expression say it all?

He was the only kitty cat refusing to play dress-up.

Enjoy your weekend.

Theresa, I totally agree with you! They are fun to see now! Funnier yet is the knee police!

Oh wow, love the cutest critters! Some of these fashions are just too much. I can only imagine the reception a police officer with a tape measure during these times would go. Love your Oliver! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

Oliver just didn't want to cover up his beautiful stripes.

I remember the books with those kitties from when I was a kid! I like Oliver better!

I had a hoop skirt in the 1950s, but it was not quite so big around! The woman's two-piece striped bathing suit in 1946 looks very much like one my Mom wore in 1948 with green stripes on white & for some reason I loved that suit. Any time I find something - a t-shirt or bathing suit or whatever in similar green & white stripes I'm tempted to buy it.

Oh how cute and funny. We used to TRY to dress up the kitties---they were all claws then.
I remember in high school--this is right before pantie hose--and we had to wear stockings or sox to school but the elite girls would be bare lagged and draw a line up their legs with eyebrow pencil. The Nuns knew and they would get caught anyway.

Oh those fashions. Urk. Whale bone corsets too. Double urk.
Love the naked cat. And see that look at this house. Often.

What passes for fashion today makes me wish hoop skirts would come back in style. For women, not cats.

Oh, the indignity of being caught out by the fashion police!

Dear Oliver, Lizzie might write. Thank goodness you don't put up with the vagaries of fashion like those kitties in this post. Or like me. My mom will make me wear a bow or bandanna or bow tie. Not every day, just on special occasions when I can be most humiliated. At least she doesn't put me in hats or Halloween costumes like she did my predecessors. All in good fun, she says. Hrumph! Hiss!

Mom says -- I love every photo in this post! I have a book with the cat pictures but the others are classics and new to me! Bravo!

I hope those gals didn't use a Sharpie to replicate a stocking seam! Interesting look at the hoops.

Lucky you to have a kitty. I would love a cat. Fab photos. Thanks for sharing.

I have trouble imagining how to get through a doorway with such wide hoops. And that poor baby, stretched out straight when the natural inclination of babies is t curl back up. Interesting post. Thanks.

P.S. Of course, the kitties are adorable!

Haven't bathing suit fashions changed dramatically.

The fashion pictures are great fun and I’m so releieved that we don’t have to wear some of them these days! Am I the only one who finds the kitten photos oddly disturbing? Best not research how the poses were achieved I imagine. Please tell me those are not ex-kittens and that these aren’t post mortem.
