Broken

"There are wounds that never show on the body
that are deeper and more hurtful
 than anything that bleeds."
Laurell K. Hamilton

"A person with a cold heart can only show their love by being cold."
Pure Dragon Wolf

BROKEN THEORY

From the center we connect
 to circles within our lives
mere fractions on a spiral
 course to eternity.

Those very circles
harbor no beginning
relinquish no end
perpetual motion to our core.

Each circle
over another circle
 our soul does make.

We absorb richness
by courage and impudence
existing in niches of every soul.

Valor or fear wakes the spiral
process of our lives
 in upward or downward spiral.

Melting glaciers of confidence
or burned bridges by lack there of.
Even the lone string will play.

Choose life, from painful depths.
Rise above
  caustic myriads of bitter events.

Foregone circumstances
define demeanor
empathy melts masses.
All is relevant in life's details.

Mend what's broken, point in theory
those painful echoes from within
let passion set to flame.

Choose goodness.

Side Note: My writing today was inspired by the tragic shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

I read today that the shooter suffered from depression and had been raised in an abusive atmosphere.  Again an enormous amount of people immediately conclude that guns should be outlawed in such situations.  As if that is the only answer.

If only, more folks realized that some human beings are broken, and repair is essential.

amen- so many people these days struggle so hard that sometimes their souls need repair. Reach out and smile at a stranger- it can help. Great poem.

Lovely writing, Karen.

For some reason what you said about the shooting inspiring your poem made me think of one of my favourite quotes:

"Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain."
Joseph Campbell

Many people are beaten-down by life in this world, but very few are truly broken, which is naturally very good and Spiritually disastrous.

Sharp and searing, and quite moving.

The broken people seem to sink unnoticed into the mire of our godless society until they erupt in violence. It is sad, since God/Jesus is the one who heals the broken-hearted. We need to be that light for the hurting to set their feet on that upward spiral, the path to healing and wholeness. Lovely poem and inspiring spiral staircase.

Great such a staircase, reminds a bit of the Vatican Museum.

Many people are broken and most of them choose goodness, but some go over to the dark side unfortunately. Your words are beautiful!
